The Metaverse is already here!

Sigh... I wish virtual worlds were still a thing. I mean, I know games like IMVU still exists, but most other things shut down.

Games like World of Kaneva, vSide (god I loved that game), There.com (which relaunched at one point but it's pretty much a ghost town now), OurWorld... Then there's Smallworlds that relaunched under a different name, but it's pretty empty too and it just doesn't feel the same. I also remember Mini Match from Cartoon Network; I remember it being such a calm and cool experience.

Now I know some of these might be viewed through a nostalgia lense, but I miss them so much. Everytime I see photos of them, my favorite virtual world games that are shutdown, I still try to click on the website with some absurd hope that maybe, just maybe, it's back.

But it's not.

I miss the virtual worlds so much. Gosh. I know this isn't exactly art (as in drawings), but games are art too, right? So... Technically related. Anyway... Yeah.

I sincerely hope that the kids who watched that YouTube video aren't gonna go to there.com and make an account and take over the space.

It's a very nostalgic game for me, I used to play it as a kid 15 years ago. I was wondering if any of y'all used to play it or are interested in playing it now??? My friend and I need people to hang out with!!

I’m pretty sure I’ve made a post like this before (because I’m really fucking passionate about There.com). This game was my entire teenhood. I’ve met SO MANY people on there. Kind, generous people who had such creative minds and gave back to a lot of the community. 99% certain it rivaled Second Life at one point in time with its playerbase. Although, I think a lot of us played both. 

Still blows my mind that everyone seems to have blocked out the time you couldn’t visit a page without seeing a There.com ad. I’m definitely not over-valuing it because that shit was huge. I know it went down to financial issues, but it was still a major titan in the 3D-world social MMO type dealio. I’m so grateful to the team behind it! It still exists today, but I’m such a shy bean who doesn’t know how to worm into smaller communities.
