- “CHOLOS”: TRIBU URBANA MEXICANA  -

Para iniciar, la palabra “cholo” proviene  del náhuatl con diferentes significados como mozo o criado; además de que hace referencia al hermano gemelo de Quetzalcóatl, Cholotl.

ORIGEN 

El origen de los cholos nace en la frontera norte, que llega después a México a principios de los años 70 y que es heredero directo del movimiento chicano de los años 60 en Los Ángeles, California. 

Surge como una marca de identidad nacional y resistencia social, cultural y política de la población mexicana que vive desde hace siglo y medio en E.U.A., para defenderse frente a una cultura anglosajona que trata de imponer rasgos fuertemente racistas contra la población latina.

Actualmente los cholos han construido una serie de símbolos e identidades nacionales fuertemente definidas, como son los religiosos, donde está presente la Virgen de Guadalupe; así como los personajes de la Revolución Mexicana, principalmente Emiliano Zapata y Francisco Villa; la figura indígena; la raza morena y los símbolos prehispánicos;en pocas palabras, todo lo que representa México.

¿CÓMO RECONOCER A UN CHOLO? 

La principal característica de un cholo es su paliacate en la cabeza, con una camisa básica y únicamente el botón del cuello abotonado, portando un rosario o cruz en el cuello; añadiendo qué, es muy común que utilicen sombrero de paja, gafas oscuras, camiseta blanca y elementos holgados.

¡Suena fascinante! ¿No es así? Sin embargo; también es fascinante que sea la tribu urbana más discriminada en el país... ¿será que siempre se han ignorado las bellas raíces que nos conectan con las calles?
