This explains why in real life i'll make references to things that online I wouldn't because it's all about relating to other people more so than finding it uproariously funny and legendary

yeah exactly, it just shows "hey i'm one of you". it's like people getting annoyed at memes or whatever, yeah i think they're shit a lot of the time but it's just w/e people would get annoyed at the in jokes i find funny. i dunno. i don't think there's anything wrong with making references and stuff and it's a pretty important part of making friends/finding a social group cause you're looking for common ground. just what the references are to varies a lot and some things are considered ok and some aren't. catchphrases can be annoying but there's nothing wrong with them really.

the only thing i meant in my original post was it's weird that people will spend a lot of money to see monty python live when really they want to just hear the sketches and catchphrases recited exactly like they already know them. i dunno
