Okay fuck it. Coining post under the cut. If anyone wants to use these go ahead, all I know is that I will be.
Therifluid: descriptor for a person who experiences fluctuation in animal identity, and specifically experiences these animal identities wholly or as theriotypes, including animalistic tendencies and selfhood, before the identity cycles out. Often has recurring species identities that they experience regularly. May or may not have fixed theriotypes related to this identity.
Fluidtype: a recurring species identity of a therifluid person. Example: a therifluid person who continuously returns to fox identity, but is not constantly a fox and thus not a fox therian, might say they have a fox fluidtype.
Phylafluid: subset of therifluid; a person who experiences fluctuation in animal identity contained to a certain clade or group of species, and specifically experiences these animal identities wholly or as theriotypes, including animalistic tendencies and selfhood, before the identity cycles out. Often has recurring species identities that they experience regularly. May or may not have fixed theriotypes related to this identity. Example: someone who is fluid in species identity only between varying species of canid, but always experiences these canid phases as core identities indistinguishable from a nonfluid canine therian’s kintype, would be a canine phylafluid person.
Phylatype: the clade or group of animals within which a phylafluid person is fluid in identity. Example: the canid phylafluid person mentioned above would call canines their phylatype. Phylatypes can encompass fluidtypes; for example, a person could have a canine phylatype, and a fox fluidtype.
These would be different from polymorph because while polymorph is specifically defined as the lack of a true form, every species identity a therifluid person takes on becomes their temporary true form, and they may also have fixed theriotypes directly related to their fluidity.
These are open to discussion and debate. I thought of “cladofluid” at first but I wanted to be also be able to name the ‘type and if I’m not mistaken “cladotype” is already a thing for cladotherians (at least, I’ve seen it used). I also think fluidtype vs phylatype might be a bit confusing, so if anyone has any better suggestions please comment.
