Question cow as a theriotype. I have a few behaviors that cows exhibit, mainly grinding my teeth like I'm chewing cud. That's not the only behavior but it's the biggest. I'd have to do much more research and self-reflection before saying for certain

hello bird therians of tumblr! I'm kinda questioning some birds at the moment to identify as, because I've realized that some of my winged cat and watcher behaviors are actually too bird-like to be just from those kins. or maybe I just want to be a bird haha.
I'm kinda lost at the moment because there's so many bird species and I don't really know what to look for. there's so many bird behaviors that I just match with several classes (mostly corvids, to be honest...) and species. so I asked myself, what better way to get information than from the source themselves?
so I wanted to ask bird therians:
1. how did you discover your bird species? what bird behaviors do you exhibit?
2. do you have any sources to look for species? maybe a website or a book somewhere I can look at for research?
3. do you experience phantom limbs? (I get wings and talons all the time bc I'm a watcher)
4. how do you narrow down the species? through behaviour, appearance, or something else?
I don't know what else to ask for. if you're a bird or even an avian, feel free to ramble below! I want to hear about your experiences to see if they match up with mine! (I know I'm the one that's gotta figure it out for himself, but I'm so lost at the moment, I don't even know what I'm looking for)
Does anyone have any tips on how to figure our what breed(s) of domestic dog I am? I think I might be some kind of livestock gaurd dog but I don't think that's the only one..
I’ve been seriously considering bears as a theriotype for quite some time now. I have been for a long time, but in terms of serious consideration it has been almost a month.
The main thing that’s been drawing me back, besides the fact that I’m still skeptical of being anything other than a GSD in terms of nonhumanity, is the distinction between polar bears and black bears. They’re the 2 that I’ve been questioning, and it’s tough to decipher whether I’m one or the other. From what I can tell they’re actually not all that similar, black bears are actually more closely related to the asian black bear rather than the bears in north america—whilst polar bears are more closely related to grizzlies. Another thing I’m getting at here is that polar bears don’t hibernate, and they rely on the sea ice as their life source and are considered marine mammals as such.
I definitely feel more of a lean towards black bears in this regard. For one I have a hard time considering species outside of my environmental-range, I’m not in areas where polar bears are, though I am in areas with black bears. I definitely have a strong connection to my home and I have an altered, interpersonal-connection to how I perceive it—which impacts my perspective of being any species all together. I also just generally perceive how I experience bearness in a very distinct way. I do have a strong connection to the ice and snow, to being in a relatively solitary land and spending my days exploring such land—hence the questioning of polar bears at all, though I see myself more realistically and have had sensations (shift-adjacent) of myself in a temperate climate. Hiding away for the cold months, trekking the forests… Living more like a stereotypical bear of my own climate rather than a marine mammal.
I often have this experience when questioning other species where I find an animal that matches everything I’ve been looking into quite perfectly, black bears in this case, but visually have a hard time connecting (as in being able to connect to how they look). I actually don’t think this is because I’m not said animal, and instead I see this as me being the animal and not having a generalized look to me—instead I have my own personal, unique features that distinct me as myself rather than as a general face amongst the other faces. It’s hard to explain, but felt important to bring up.

Therian update!!! I’m pretty sure I’m either a wolverine therian or wolverine hearted, I’m not sure, but there’s something that’s there for sure! I’ve been doing a lot of research and I feel really ?!1?1!&8291!! about them. I don’t know how to describe it. “Connected” feels wishy washy, and saying that it’s actually me doesn’t feel right (like my saarloos wolfdog theriotype is actually me for example)
And no, I don’t mean Logan Howlett, I mean his alias’s much cooler namesake. 🫶
Things I know for certain:
I like making animal vocals.
I am a black cat therian with psychological theories to explain this.
I have happy tail wag phantom limb experiences.
I am probably magic kin (cladokin style).
Things I don't know:
I am not sure about my magic kin shifts or if I have any.
Am I wolf kin, fox kin, both, or something similar? Currently I label these connections as otherheart/kith.
Advice for questioning a kintype
If you're questioning a new kintype, don't do research until you've done a bit of journalling.
If you're questioning fictionkin, isolate yourself from the source. If you're questioning felines, don't look into them just yet.
First, you'll want to make note of patterns and traits within yourself. Your phantom shifts, behaviors, cravings, all that fun stuff. After you've spent a month or two tracking that without exposure to what you're questioning, you should have a pretty good amount of traits to work with in finding your kintype, with less risk of falsely confirming a kintype based on subconscious mimicking.

No specific breed. Just some mutt cat
