uhmm... YES! Tough-ass dwarven ladies are always insta-besties! XD

and Oda loves to drink warm honeymead with a good spoonful of extra honey. She actually doesn’t like bitter ales but gulps them down either way. She’d never say no to a drink ... but secretly she loves the sweet stuff. (not that she’d ever order it in a tavern though...).

Her favorite food buck stew. Especially crispy bread dipped in the stew sauce.

Cold & Snow

A Cadash Week Writing Prize, feat. therussetsparrow‘s Vara Cadash and the Iron Bull. Hope you like it! <3

“Forward!” Vara Cadash called to her companions and her soldiers. They were nearing the end of another push against the Red Templar forces in the Emprise du Lion, and the Templars were making them work for every inch.

During their talks with Ser Michel de Chevin, they had learned that this encampment near Judicael’s Crossing was key; the paths leading from it led to the quarry as well as Suledin Keep, both areas of immense interest to the Templars. The push to the Crossing encampment had been slow, but they were finally almost there.

“Secure this area!” Vara bellowed, directing her soldiers with hand motions; they’d reached the base of the tower, and there were very few Red Templar defenders left.

“Look out, Boss!” she heard Bull cry from across the clearing, answered by an inhuman roar just behind her. She turned just in time to see one of the Behemoths swinging its monstrous club at her.

“Shit…” she groaned, as if only inconvenienced; she dived away to safety – or so she thought, as a patch of slick ice picked up her momentum and carried her over the edge of the cliff. Vara winced as the ground hurtled up to meet her. She was greeted, however, by a cold, wet tomb. After a moment of shock, she began to struggle to free herself.

“What… the hell!?” she gasped with exasperation as her head exploded from the snowdrift. She found herself almost completely submerged in the dense pile. The sounds of battle on the clifftop above her had all but died away.

“Boss!” She heard Bull call from above.

“Down here…” she grumbled, trying to extract herself from the snowbank. When Bull saw her struggling, he slid down the cliff side; he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself seeing the woman he loved mostly buried in a large snowdrift. That turned Vara’s look of displeasure to a full-blown scowl in an instant.

“Hold on, Boss…” Bull sighed, beginning to help dig and lift the much smaller woman out of the snow.

“I… hate… the cold…” Vara growled with a shudder, finally free of her frozen prison.

“Aww, c’mon,” Bull laughed, beginning to carry her back to the top of the cliff. “These conditions toughen a person up!”

“I’m already tough, Bull,” Vara complained. “I don’t see why I need to prove it by coming to hellholes like this.”

Her response just made Iron Bull laugh harder. By the time they reached the top of the cliff, the Inquisition soldiers had already built a fire and were starting to make camp. Bull carried Vara directly over to the fire and set her down in front of it before sitting down behind her himself.

“You come to hellholes like this to make people’s lives better,” Bull whispered in her ear as he began to massage some warmth back into her shoulders and arms. “Without you, the people down in that village would still be suffering under the thumb of the Red Templars; we’re driving them out, all thanks to you.”

Vara shivered, finally feeling some warmth begin to return to her body, though she couldn’t tell whether it was the fire, Bull’s hands, or Bull’s words that did it; she smiled.

“Thanks, Bull,” she replied, turning to kiss him on the cheek.

“No problem, Boss,” he answered with a grin of his own.
