The Selfie Project 📷
Have you ever wondered how a writer would describe you as a character? Or are you bored with your WIP and looking to flex those creative muscles?
@procastinatingwriter207 has come up with an amazing prompt--submit a selfie + a few lines describing yourself and get back a flash fic based off it from a Writeblr blog!
For example, this is what I submitted:
Writer, author, artist, and social media slave set to release debut novel.
Her Nerd would say she's spicy-sweet.
Chronically ill with a connective tissue disorder. Arms/hips constantly dislocate, stomach constantly hurts. Constantly complaining and laughing about it.
Has two adorable little rats that love to cuddle and chew holes in everything, as well as a small foxy faced black dog that is jealous of them. She also pretends they don't exist.
Likes to dress up, but realistically spends most of her days in bed looking like a trash monkey.
Or, if that doesn’t catch your fancy, you can request to be part of the project and receive a selfie.
Here’s what I got:
Tends to stay up all night and wake up early.
Is a mess and doesn't care.
Loves animals and her friends more than herself.
Writes and reads in between stressing over homework.
Constantly listening to music.
And here’s what I wrote:
“The sun streaked across the filtered gray sky. She waited at the bus stop, her hair like white ice, pulled up in a messy bun at the top of her head. She got up at 5am so her hair was the least of her worries. Not when she went to bed at 3am.
In her defense between writing and homework, she wasn't given much of a choice. Not that she cared. As long as she had her music blasting in her ears and she stepped onto the bus, all was good in her world.
She shuffled down the aisle and plopped into an empty seat. Her friend would be on in a few stops, but for now she hunkered down into her hoodie, backpack cushioning her head, and dozed off.”
It only took a couple minutes, and it was a ton of fun!
I’m always so glad to see people in the Writeblr community reaching out and connecting us all with fun exercises like this. Mad props to @procastinatingwriter207 ❤
