Christmas is unnecessary.

This is the first of 3 chapters of my MorMor Secret Santa for theseverinmoran . I'll post the next chapter tomorrow. I hope you like this.

The lessened number of members only means that the remaining groups have to work twice as long, leaving no time for Christmas celebrations, not that Jim had ever cared. He saw Christmas as an excuse for people to get sentimental over useless materialistic goods that would be thrown away after a day's use and that's all.

This year was no different. Jim wasn't sleeping, Sebastian was sure of it. Every night in December he would go to bed yet Jim would never appear next to him. Even though the sniper wasn't the sentimental type, he still wanted to try and get Jim to see the more fun side of the holiday as he had when he was a child growing up with Severin.

By Christmas morning, Jim was still sitting in his study and blankly typing at a keyboard, his eyes glazed over from lack of blinking. He didn't even turn to see his right hand man poke his head into the study but he could tell he was there. "What do you want, Moran. I'm busy" Jim muttered, still focused on the screen.

" I know we don't do presents, but..well, Merry Christmas" Sebastian hesitated before taking a step forward and further into the study. He fiddled aimlessly with a small and shoddily wrapped parcel in his hand before placing in on the desk next to Jim when the other man didn't so much as give him eye contact. He sighed in annoyance at Moriarty's disregard even though it was what he had expected and backed out of the door, leaving Jim with the gift.

Once Jim was sure Seb had gone, he pushed his chair back from the desk a little and reached over to pick up the little parcel, genuinely intrigued at what his partner and sniper had deemed useful enough to warrant buying.

Carefully picking through the layers of sticky tape and badly cut paper, a glint of silver caught Jim's eye.  He managed to grab hold of the small piece of metal he could see and pulled it from the paper so that he could hold it to the light. A tie pin. Jim was about to shout at Sebastian to question why he thought it was necessary yet he couldn't bring himself to.

Looking closer at the pin, he noticed the diamond encrusted emblem on the front. A small spider glinted in the light, it's ruby eyes shimmering out. In the few seconds he had been holding it, it was starting to grow on the consulting criminal and he didn't really want Sebastian to have wasted the time and effort.

As he set the pin down and turned back to his computer, he couldn't help but keep glancing at it as a small musing smirk spread onto his lips.

'Maybe this Christmas thing ordinary people do could be interesting' he mused before his mind drifted back to his computer.
