Cruel Treatment from School Administration
@Regranned from @yosoycordova - I am sitting on my bed crying and feeling profoundly grateful to be alive in this moment. Thank you to all our sisters for speaking up, being brave and with it gifting so many of us...belonging! To you all who think we are made of metal and believe your fire will melt and mold us into whatever shape you desire us to take, know this…we are made of air. We are the wind and we can and will light and extinguish your fire as we please. Machismo, you’ve just met your worst enemy...women! Don't tell me happy IWD. I "celebrate" it every day. Please take the time to consider the meaning behind it. ✂ ✂ ✂ Why do we still celebrate it? The original aim – to achieve full gender equality for women the world – has still not been realised. A gender pay gap persists across the globe and women are still not present in equal numbers in business or politics. Figures show that globally, women’s education, health and violence towards women is still worse than that of men. According to the World Economic Forum, the gender gap won't close until 2186. On IWD, women across the world come together to force the world to recognise these inequalities – while also celebrating the achievements of women who have overcome these barriers. According to a 2017 report by the World Economic Forum, it could still take another 100 years before the global equality gap between men and women disappears entirely. In 2017, women effectively worked "for free" for 51 days of the year because of the gender pay gap. Women are also paid less than half than men at some of Britain's major companies, according to recent gender pay gap figures. In 2017, women's rights dominated the news, with a global reckoning on sexual misconduct rippling through industries. Following the outpouring of allegations against Harvey Weinstein and other prominent men in power, the #MeToo movement gave a voice to women on the abuse and harassment they suffer in film, fashion, music, politics and art. TIME magazine then named the women speaking out against sexual and gender injustice their Person of the Year in December, naming the collective winner 'The Silence Breakers'. Last year I had the absolute pleasure of being involved in @cosmoaustralia’s #RedFlag Campaign raising awareness about violence against women.🙅🏼♀️ I had the opportunity to share my story along with many incredible, inspiring and strong women. It was an honour to be featured in the November 2017 Issue in such amazing company. I’ve just been told that #CosmopolitanBavaria will be sharing the story in 2018. For more information on the “Red Flags” of a DV relationship check out Cosmo’s website for our video on what to be aware of (This image is a still from the video campaign) Please always know; if you are going through this, you are not alone, we stand with you, we are an army and together we can make #violenceagainstwomen a thing of the past. 💪🏻 #metoo #cosmopolitan #cosmopolitanmagazine #redflagcampaign #thesilencebreakers (at Sydney, Australia)
