POST: TEACHING MY TEEN SON HOW TO LOVE OTHERS My 17 year old asked me to do something for him, something that would require a lot of work for me. I reminded him that my love languages are words of affirmation and physical touch, and that I'd appreciate a hug and 10 affirming words that he would use to describe me before I gave him an answer. This is not to gas my head up or have a "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" kind of relationship. I AM PREPARING HIM TO BE A HUSBAND. FATHER. FRIEND. I am hopefully teaching him that asking to be loved is more easily reciprocated when we have first loved and served others. He wrote these in about a minute. He put thought into it. If I release him in the world not knowing how to love I will have failed him miserably. I do this with him often so that HOPEFULLY AND PRAYERFULLY he is equipped at loving others IN A WAY THAT COMMUNICATES LOVE TO THEM, not in the way he "feels" like loving them. This was hard for him at first but we've been doing this a few years and it has become easier. I'm praying Christ will do something amazing in my sons heart! How can you teach your sons how to love better?*** #mamastrong #mamastrongof5 #mommylife #motherhood #thestretchmarksareworthit #flawedmom #noperfectmoms #magnificentprivilege #momlife #motherhoodispowerful #momof5 #mamabear #jesus #christian #saved #blessed #sahm #homemaker #familymanager #lifecoach #brawlerforchrist #parenting #godlyparenting #momsofinstagram #kids #family #mother #mothers #motivation #MomChat
