POST: TIPS THAT HELPS ME WORKOUT IN MY INSANELY BUSY SEASON OF LIFE*** No one is more surprised than me to find out there actually IS time in my day to workout. I just never realized it. It takes me making a decision I've never been willing to make and begging the Lord to show me how to see time differently. I literally look at my schedule and pray, "oh Jesus, please show me where I can workout today. Help me care for this body You died and rose again for. I'm tired. I don't want to. But You are stronger than my desire and weakness. Please help me." I have never bothered to ask Him for that before. I had prayed for diligence, consistency, will power. I had prayed to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to get off my butt and just do it!! I had lamented and cried and blamed Him, my family, my season of life and I had bathed myself in the sticky stench of condemnation. But this prayer- this very practical prayer- "show me where I have time to care for my body?" has been a game-changer for me. The only thing I need to do after He shows me is THE NEXT THING. I don't pray and then map out a 2-hour workout (I'll get overwhelmed). I just put on my workout clothes and then lean into Him. He leads me to my socks, then my shoes. Then my water. He is gentle and encouraging me in my weakness. I am not naturally a disciplined consistent person, but Jesus is changing me. On the machine I pray, "Jesus, if it pleases You, please grant me the strength to go 45 minutes." I don't take for granted anymore that I can do this without His leading. If indeed He is my only hope and He "cares about every detail of my life" then He can walk me to the elliptical machine and tell me to get started. I know this tip won't work for everyone, but y'all know my desire is to help you if I can.
