Text today from my boy!!! Melted my heart!!! It is so important for us as mothers to teach our sons how to love women. It is a skill and a muscle they must develop because Christ has made men and women so different. There are 2 great ways to do this: 1. Minister to your son from the beginning. Talk to him about love. Ask him what you can do to make him feel loved. In our house we use the 5 love languages as guides. Love is something that must be poured into us so that we can pour it out. Speak and give love to your boys so they will have love to give. 2. Encourage (and sometimes require) your son to love others in ways that the other person can feel it. Get them thinking about what would bless others. Empathy. Letters, acts of service, hugs, gifts... we talk a lot about this. What one thing could you do to love on your brother, father, sisters today? What one person at school could you express love towards today? How might you express love to me today, son? Let me give you some ideas. *** As you make this conversation a normal part of the way you communicate with your sons Christ will begin to move. And patience is key! I have been pouring into this young man for 17 years and communication like this is just beginning to happen and even then it’s rare.
