Do you think Hippolytus have enough amazon in him for ares to be able to claim some dominion over him or have any feelings about him or his (bitch) father theseus

If the question is 'did Ares like Hippolytus' I imagine if the woman who fucked a bear and her bear twins were worth saving to be turned into birds then Hippolytus would be claimed and I imagine that Ares would be peeved at Aphrodite and pissed at Poseidon for his death.

I still think Thesus is a douchebag on basic principle

So you meet this guy. And they come off as like kind of stand offish, but the more you talk to them the more you realize they’re a pretty cool dude. Sure, they’re a bit quiet and really into sports, but overall you think “hey, this dude is pretty chill. I mean yeah they don’t say much but honestly they’re a cool dude.”

And then you meet the person they’re dating. And it’s the worst person you have ever met. They’re dating the most loudmouth, obnoxious person you have ever met. Seriously, you don’t even want to be stuck in a room with this person for five seconds, how on earth would anyone in their right mind want to date this person?

You talk to the first guy and go “Them??? Really??? Why the heck would you want to be with THEM???” But the first guy, though they don’t say much, has nothing but kind words to say about the horrendously obnoxious person they’re dating.

So you keep running into this couple, and every time you cannot comprehend why this cool dude would date the world’s most annoying person, but at least they seem to be happy or whatever.

Anyways that Asterius and Theseus’s relationship in the game Hades in a nutshell

So I have a theory/headcanon about the laurals in Hades.

As we know the royal family, Hades, Persephone, and Zagreus all wear the flaming laurals.

But before Persephone joined them back as their queen, she didn't.

This leads me to believe that only royalty can and do wear laurals around their heads.

"but shabby!" You may say, "Thesus wears blue ones!"

And yes! He does! Thesus though was the king of Athens. And is refered to in the game as "king" several times, so although they're not flaming, he does have a set of laurals to show his station.

"what about Asterius though???"

And I'll admit. This is more of my own head canon here. Asterius does indeed wear laurals, but I think they're because they were a gift from Thesus. Wether they're a gift to show close friendship and companionship or a gift of lovers is entirely up to you.

But now we get to achillies and patroclus.

For anyone who doesn't know, patroclus was born a prince, but at the ripe old age of 9 he was exiled and lost that title. He has not been a prince since he was very young.

Achillies however never lost that title. He was born a prince and died a prince. He should still have his laurals and yet we see it's the opposite in game.

I truly believe that after Patroclus was slain, achillies removed the laurals from his own head and put them on patroclus's. As a sign of devotion, of his love. There would be no one else in achillies life who would be worthy of wearing his laurals, of being his partner and lover.

When their bodies were burnt and buried I think patroclus was still wearing the laurals and took them into the after life with him.

Being the only gift he has from achillies with him, he keeps them on knowing the symbol of love and devotion that they are. Taking them off would mean finally moving on from the love they had for one another.

Achillies likewise refuses new royal laurals. His deal with Hades means he's now a servant, not a prince. And replacing the laurals he gave to patroclus would be too painful. You can't replace the love you have for your soulmate afterall. That's not something you can just move past.

#62: Theseus fell

Why you need to Remember Ariadne

I recently read a retelling of the Myth of Ariadne and despite being in love with Greek mythology it was surprising how much of her story I was missing. All I knew was that she helped Theseus defeat the minotaur in the labyrinth and that she pitied the Minotaur, who was her brother. 

But this book went beyond that. It was a beautiful description of love and how rare and selfless it is. It describes what we hear so little about, how Theseus abandoned her on Naxos in order to pursue his own glory, taking the credit for her solution. 

How little she trusted after that and how Dionysus, so in love with humans as a young god taught her how to love and trust again only to be swept away in the glory of all of humanities love. 

It was a beautiful narrative of people who experience immortality or seek it out truly lose the beauty of love. Theseus was so caught up in being immortalized as a hero he forgot the little things. Dionysus was so afraid of losing love that he sought it en masse and thus lost sight of what truly makes love valuable: the rarity of it, the intimacy of it. 

In the end Ariadne dies protecting Dionysus, some say it's from Perseus who's approval was sought by Dionysus (That's the story told in the book I read) in other cases it's Hera who hated Dionysus and in other Athena protected both Perseus and Theseus. No matter which way she dies, she dies for love and the limited time she has to give it. 

Ariadne's tale should be a lesson on how little time we have to love and how it can be one of the most profound gifts we have in our hearts to give. Instead she is condemned to be the one who gave Theseus the glory he deserved and All she got for it was a crown in the sky we didn't even name after her.

TL;DR: You need to remember to learn about Greek heroines because their stories aren’t about glory but the actual things that make up humanity.
