Reviewing the chapter on the third agreement, "don't make assumptions" for the book study I've been facilitating and this line hit me especially hard. I've been in a few conscious couplings where I felt I couldn't be myself for fear of rejection or failure of the relationship. Sooner or later the relationship would end anyway and I would realize that I had been wasting precious energy trying to be what they wanted me to be when it would have been easier to find someone who loved me just the way I am. I just finished reading @donmiguelruiz book The four agreements. I’m still processing all of it. Still trying to understand it, but as of right now I’m still failing at all the agreements simultaneously, but at least now im aware. It might take a month it might take years but the knowledge is there. We will see what springs up. A. Never Make Assumptions

Why? Because it is better to void all the drama created out of making an assumptions when clear communication comes in tact. Confused about something, ask a question, until you understand. Have a hunch about something, ask about it right away.

However, I do think that assumption making is inevitable. I don’t think a question can exist with out an assumption, but it is better to have both. It’s kind of like that what came first the chicken or the egg? Which came first the assumption or the question?

So, I guess... if you have an assumption directly clarify it with clear communication and a question to square out and dodge any drama right away.
