“I’ll be back before you get bored.” She said with a smile. “You need anything from the village?”
“No, just have fun. And be back before six, it’ll be fixed by then.” said the Doctor while still looking at the little box he held, the one that he was trying to fix. Y/N nodded and left the TARDIS.
It was somewhere around 90’s, at least that’s what the Doctor said when they first arrived. It was more like an accident than intentional, something to do with that little box the Doctor was trying to fix, she assumed. The village had such a lovely view, she didn’t care about the date being different from the Doctor’s intention. As long as she was with her Doctor, travelling through time and space, saving all kinds of species, she didn’t care anything else at all. That reminded her the first time she saw him. It was such a vivid memory, even after two years with him. She smiled as she remembered the time that brown-haired slim man calmed her down with his smooth voice as a cyberman past by. Cyberman armies was all over the city that night, trying to upgrade people. It was such a relief the Doctor was there to save the planet, just like he did in the past and he will in the future. After running all over their base and figuring out how to send them away on that scary night, he invited her to the spaceship she now called home. Of course, Y/N accepted. What else she could’ve done against the offer of an adventure?
A voice stopped the thoughts floating in her mind. To be more specific, a man’s voice.
“Y/N, where were you?! I was looking for you all over the village! I told you not to wander off!” His red bow-tie caught Y/N's attention at first encounter.
“Do I know you?” Her sentence made him frown slightly.
“What do you mean? Of course you know me, I am the Doctor.” said the man, as he straightened his bow-tie, almost as a reflex.
She raised an eyebrow. What was he talking about? He wasn't the Doctor. Doctor looked nothing like him. “No, you’re not.”
As a response, he took a familiar object out of his jacket’s pocket. Y/N couldn’t believe what she saw. It was a sonic screwdriver. Although, with a green light on top, it was quite different from his Doctor’s sonic.
“Of course I am! Look! It’s my sonic screwdriver. The one you used quite a lot.”
"I haven't even see that before."
After a moment of watching each other, she added. "If you are really him, then show me your TARDIS."
He didn't hesitate to take her hand and drag her into the street he came from.
He pointed the blue box. "See? TARDIS." Then pointed himself. "Timelord."
She stared at the police box she adored. It was really the TARDIS. In a different street, but at the exact same blueness.
"How?" She managed to turn her eyes to the timelord. "Haven't you told me that you can't cross your own timeline or the universe would explode or something?"
"I am not crossing my timeline. I haven't interacted with myself."
In that exact moment, he took a step back as he frowned and looked at her, carefully. Like he was looking for something particular.
"How old are you?" He said, after he is done with whatever he was looking for.
"Nineteen. Why?" Y/N asked. He looked like something was wrong.
"You're not my Y/N."
"What's that supposed to mean?" She said, kind of offended.
"It means, you're a younger version of my Y/N. Not the one who's travelling with me. That's why you don't know about the sonic and this version of me. I haven't changed yet."
Conversation got cut off with another voice which was familiar to Y/N. Actually, too familiar.
"Doctor, I bought cake! And found the cookies you were talking about." It was her own voice. The Doctor shushed the younger Y/N and pushed her behind the TARDIS. As he did, the older Y/N turned around the corner with a paper bag in her arms.
"Who were you talking to?"
"Myself. You went to get the cake? I told you to wait for me and not wander off!"
"You were busy and I was hungry. You were right about the cookies by the way. They are delicious."
"I told you. Now, why don't you go inside? I'll be there in a second."
Y/N waited as her older self agreed and went into the TARDIS. After a second, the Doctor's face appeared from behind the TARDIS.
"It was me." Y/N whispered.
"It was you. Just a few years older."
"I am going to be with you a few more years, then." She smiled.
He smiled too. But when he spoke, it was about a different topic.
"Now Y/N, I want you to listen to me carefully. The younger me doesn't know that he is going to change. You can't tell him. It would mean I am crossing my own timeline and it can never happen. It would destroy the universe." She nodded. The Doctor hesitated for a second before he spoke again.
"When he will change, it will be… Difficult. He won't want to change. I know it is selfish of me to want that but I want you to help him. Remind him that it is okay to change. I know it is going to be hard for you too but I wouldn't say anything if I didn't know you or what you are capable of."
The Doctor's trust in her, made her smile genuinely. "Of course I will help, Doctor. You didn't need to ask for it. I will always be there when you need me."
He smiled too before walking inside the TARDIS. As TARDIS made her classic voice and disappeared, she walked through the street with a grin on her face. Her smile didn't fade even when she got to her Doctor's TARDIS.
"What happened? I thought you said you'll be out at least two hours." Doctor asked, still holding the box in one hand and his sonic in the other.
"I said I'll be out until you got bored. Does it take you two hours to get bored?" She teased, laughing. "Are you finished with the box?"
"Almost."
It didn't take long for him to yell, "Done!" and start running around the console as soon as he put the box in it's place.
"Which planet do you want to go now?"
"Which planet do you want to show me?" Her answer made him grin widely as he yelled and pulled a lever.
"Allons-y!"
