idk if anybody who follows me remembers that one time i wrote about how billrita is fun because they flip the normal f/m script, the woman healing the man's emotional wound in exchange for the man's protection: cage becomes the only person who can understand what rita's gone through, and in exchange she trains him to fight. but honestly that line of thinking doesn't fully encapsulate the reality of their Deal, where Cage's motivation to protect Rita far exceeds Rita's motivation to protect him. i think it's neat that their dynamic is probably best described as, "cage attempts to heal rita's emotional wounds and keep her alive, and in exchange rita tells him what to do all the time"
