I have a lot of thoughts on Hunter's Blade and The Orc King.

None of them are good.

I'll never forgive the death of Innovindil, and then constantly using her to try and motivate Drizzt to mindlessly slaughter orcs. I'll also never forgive the fact that we knew Drizzt liked her and was attracted to her. Hell he fucking *moaned into a kiss* with her, which is the most sexual Drizzt has GOTTEN with anyone since RAS just decided to skip Drizzt and Catti-Brie kissing in the woods when they were just friendly wrestling like three books prior. And then to just play it off as "they were just such good friends." It feels very 'we have to kill her off bc she's a threat to the main couple.'

One, they each have two hands, let them kiss together. Two, she didn't need to fucking DIE SO BRUTALLY.

And this doesn't even dive into my general problems of the orcs, and how they went from slaughtering and conquering land that is already owned by small groups of people, to "oh you know... We can't have evil races anymore ):". Making a race more sympathetic and a victim of circumstance is fine! We love that here! I don't truly believe any of the races of the material plane are like inherently evil like that. HOWEVER, I do draw the line at "this group of people slaughtered innocents for their own personal gain, when they could have gone like 10 miles to the left and have been PERFECTLY FINE. But now they really just want peace for their people ): and also there's a more evil group within their ranks who WANTS to slaughter more innocents."

And don't get me STARTED with the jarring opening of The Orc King being like "lol we're 100 years in the future and we skipped the Spellplague! Also all the orcs are peaceful now." And I'm sure a lot of this was corporate interference. But like OOF I thought I had missed something and had to Google the order to read the books in bc ?????? What the FUCK IS HAPPENING.

AND WULFGAR'S WHOLE STORY??? EXCUSE ME??????????

that last fight scene in iron man/captain america: casualties of war...................the denouement of the war....when they used analepsis to amplify the emotions and parallels to other moments of their mutual past emphasising the depth of the relationship that has been utterly, irreparably torn apart in this war......the inherent bitter, astringent symbolism of them fighting in the ruins of their home in a scene that highlights their individual hamartia.....they used to bring out the best in each other but now they know each other so thoroughly and wholly they can bring out the very worst.

steve taught tony so much of what he knows about fighting and at the time the thought would never even think about crossing his mind that tony would use those moves against him....and tony wouldn't even for a minute consider using them against steve.......but now, in the ruins of where they used to live, harmonious and together, they fight with their old family picture hung, torn, in the background, the fight not in the armour and with the shield, as iron man and captain america - teammates on the legendary avengers, but as tony stark and steve rogers, friends.
