Thinking about how D3rlord knew everything about Avery to the point that he was able to immediately figure out the fake Avery. He genuinely cared about Avery and knew exactly what to say to snap him out of the trance at the church. He wanted to save him so badly even though he had never MET him before this and yes while he did know everything about Avery he still didn't really know him as a person.
And then you've got Avery, who knows nothing about D3rlord for almost the entire story. All he knows is that D3rlord left a warning for him specifically. And he sets out to find D3rlord because he believes he owes it to him to the point that he was willing to die with him at the end, potentially dooming the WORLD in the process
