I love my cis friends I really do. nothing quite like a cis guy sending you a voice note going "Julian my girlfriend mentioned bioessentialism. she said you would know what it is. what is bioessentialism?"

Danny's at Pride with his friends. The day is sunny and warm but not hot. There were rumors of rain later but so far the skies were clear.
The only cops there were out of uniform and celebrating along with the rest of the fags. There were heros and vigilanties around-both on the ground and in the sky- to keep an eye out for any danger (and if some of them were bopping along to the music and taking selfies with the crowd and letting themselves get streaked with (compostable) rainbow glitter than that was just to make those celebrating feel safe. Definetly not getting distracted. so siree. not them. they were Professionals)
Danny's bopping along- his white hair dyed pink for a reason he doesnt really remember anymore and defying gravity and it sways in the nonexistent wind. He's just about to take a bite of a corn dog when he sees a flash of orange and teal out of the corner of his eye.
He tenses. Freezing in place. His friends notice and start looking around trying to identify the danger.
Eventually, their eyes land on a large man in an orange jumpsuit and a petite woman in a matching teal one. One of them remembers a picture in the corner of Danny's living room with him his sister and two older people in similar looking matching jump suits. Combined with how Danny was now beginning to hyperventilate, they were quick to connect the dots and quickly made a circle around him as they tried to usher him away.
Danny didn't know how to tell them it was futile.
(distantly he noticed that it was drizzling)
That his parents were weapons manufacturers.
That their weapons wouldn't be stopped by the living.
He must've disassociated because the next thing he knows theres a crowd gathered yelling at the couple. It takes him a while to realize whats happening.
The crowd thinks his parents are homophobic.
He would've laughed if he wasn't filled with so much dread.
How could he explain that his parents wanted to end him, yes, but not because of his sexuality or anything like that. That they were actually very supportive on that front.
A tiny part of him wanted to defend them.
(huh. the rain stopped)
But then he saw the telltale colors of a superhero costume and realized that they could handle his parents just fine. and that his parents, well, they could dig their own grave.
(was that a rainbow overhead?)
Tldr;
Danny's at pride with friends. He sees his parents and freaks out. His friends immedietly assume they're homophobic. (theyre not)
just realized i didnt post about this. but i went thrifting with my freinds the other day and i was talking to this person and after spending a minute or two talking to each other they tell me "you seem like the type of person who'd appreciate this" AND SHOWED ME THEIR TATTOO OF THE AO3 LOGO
