“Melre?” The air went tense, even the ginger barista was frozen, looking up with his mittmatched eyes wide. Like she had just said something forbidden. Melody sucked in a breath, closing her eyes and keeping her hands gripping the table tightly. “Melody is fine, Marinette.” She breathed, voice shaking. Her mind drifted back to a small child; one with bright emerald green eyes, a bright, contagious smile which seemed to encase a whole room in warmth. The sweet voice calling her ‘Melre’ echoed in Melody-Rose's ears. That's what Lillian had called her, before and while she died. “Just Melody, please.” Marinette nodded quickly. “I-I’m sorry, I didn’t–” “You didn’t know, you don't know. That's okay, just Melody is fine for now.”
