i don't know about y'all, but my Discover Weekly took a dive in quality overall this year. it became less about undiscovered gems by artists i like, and more about the same sludge i'm seeing in my subscription box. future rave, garage revival, a million interchangeable low-effort hypertechno tracks. it was pretty depressing. so imagine my utter SHOCK when it dropped 24 karats of THIS in there one week.

i think DnB is at its best when it just lets go. forget templates, forget the jungle roots, just take the decades of great ideas we've had and work them into something interesting. go with the flow, y'know? ADHDnB may be a... tongue-in-cheek name to say the least. but the sub-subgenre of jump up is one that has the greatest potential to defy expectations, while at the same time being the most difficult to create something quality out of.

leave it to these two eastern europeans, then, to create some real fuckin quality, eh? a cinematic intro builds into an absolutely wild ride packed with Half-Life samples carried by some truly mental sound design. the rolling snares of the first bars transition SO cleanly into the jump-up patterns of the second. this track isn't a medkit, it's a can of Powerthirst.
