The Hunger Games Renaissance. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023), dir. Francis Lawrence
“The deal was that, if I won the Hunger Games, I get to live the rest of my life in peace. But now, you wanna kill me again.”
Jena Malone as Johanna Mason Catching Fire (2013)
“I want the audience to recognize you when you’re in the arena," says Cinna dreamily. “Katniss, the girl who was on fire.”
“I always saw her as a very three-dimensional, very unique character, even in the book she can be written off as sort of comic relief. But what I love about Effie is she’s this great representative of the Capitol and all the Capitol stands for. She drank the Kool-Aid. So essentially she’s a villain — a really fun villain, but a villain nonetheless. The challenges for me were how to make her theatrical and larger than life but also fit into the tone of this movie, which is very serious. How do we make decisions where she can be overly effusive and positive about everything but at the same time be telegraphing to you that this is a horrible thing that’s happening? She’s not unknowing” (Elizabeth Banks, 2012).

Monday, 23rd August
Count my cards, watch them fall
Blood on a marble wall
I like the way they all
Scream
Tell me which one is worse
Living or dying first
Billie Eilish, you should see me in a crown
Tuesday, 24th August
R.I.P. to my youth
And you could call this the funeral
The Neighbourhood, RIP 2 My Youth
Wednesday, 25th August
And the cry goes out
They lose their minds for us
And how it plays out
Now we're in the ring, and we're coming for blood
//Glory and gore go hand in hand
Lorde, Glory and Gore
Thursday, 26th August
It's bittersweet to think about the damage that we do
'Cause I was going down, but I was doing it with you
Yeah, everything we broke, and all the trouble that we made
But I say that I hate you with a smile on my face
Olivia Rodrigo, favorite crime
Friday, 27th August
Melting through the cracks in my hands
I guess I held on for too long
I'm done with your bittersweet, bittersweet tragedy
It's no fun, when I'm sitting all alone
Melanie Martinez, Bittersweet Tragedy
Happy creating <3

Oops, Wrong Idea
Fandom: The Hunger Games Pairing: Haymitch/Effie Rating: T Summary:
It had been three months since Haymitch had last come out with them on a Friday night. It was a tradition for the four of them to go out once the last bus left with the students at the end of the day and head to Ripper’s for dinner and drinks before the weekend really started.
Now they barely saw him during the school day, and he had stopped joining them in any activities outside of school, which led to them losing darts games against the post office workers that also hung out on Friday nights at Ripper’s.
----
or - Chaff, Jo, and Finnick come up with the brilliant idea to barge into Haymitch's house on a Friday night and are surprised to discover he isn't alone. Sequel to "Oops, Wrong Number?"
Excerpt:
A glass slammed down on the table as Johanna finished her drink. “You know wh-- We should just go to his house,” she slurred. “If he ain’t gonna come out with us… we gotta bring… the... us… to him . Goddamn bastard .”
Finnick and Chaff both snorted at the thought before stilling. They glanced at each other before looking back at Johanna.
She leaned back ungracefully and raised her eyebrows. “Well?” She tapped the side of her head. “Genius idea, right?”
Finnick nodded, finishing off his drink in one long sip and slamming it down to the table. “Let’s fucking do it.”

"And I know that there's nothing I could ever do to change this. No show of love, however believable, will turn this tide. If my holding out those berries was an act of temporary insanity, then these people will embrace insanity, too.
