Today I have a very unusual dinner option. My house keeper has been buying groceries for me so I don’t have to go to the store. I’m eternally grateful for her efforts. Her and her daughter have been very kind to me. I asked her pick me up a few things to help me get through. Pickles, bell peppers and other small items. When she popped to drop off the food items she asked me if I wanted a steak. I said sure. Steak is rear for me and it’d break up the eating monotony. It was in brown paper and I was okay cool. Later once I got around to putting things away I discovered this monster. It was a 3 inch think steak. I was too tired yesterday to prepare it but today I got on it because I wanted to eat it while it was fresh. What you see here is a lot like the meals I grew up on. We bought whole sides of beef because we knew people in the farming community of Blythe. It saved the family money and we had better quality food. This meal is like memory eating. The meal reminds me of my family and the nostalgia of youth. This is likely one reason I got so big. My mom was hot after high quality food but she was frugal too. I didn’t eat the whole steak BTW. 🥩 That would be crazy! Eating half of it nearly killed me. Lol. I’ll save some for tomorrow. I had three sides. I crushed fresh garlic in the coleslaw mixing it with bell peppers and mayonnaise. I don’t like sweet coleslaw, but savory. I seared the steak on both sides and pan broiled in in bacon drippings with a salt and pepper rub. It was bright pink in the middle. (So good!) I had broccoli and peas and carrots too. It was a nice change from the low budget stuff I regularly eat.
