#thin people problems

Take it from a guy who’s naturally and seemingly unrelentlessly so skinny.

Guess the solution to this is to just stop trying to be Ken (or Barbie for that matter) or whatever the world says is acceptable and be who God made you to be. If Ken happens to look like that too, then cool! If not, then cool too!

Well, definitely easier said than done. I still wish i had a different body sometimes (or most times) but it is what God gave me.

My stubborn self should just learn to be content and build up the earthly vessel that i already have rather than just wishing for another. 😩

You talk about double standards and then post about not complaining about being too skinny. You talk about being discriminated against constantly and then rather than support other people going through negative experiences, you say that their problems aren't worth mentioning. I could give a fuck about your weight because things like that prove that you're an ugly person regardless.

Added: the asker meant a reblogged post that was saying complaining about being too thin does not equal oppression. The post doesn't say, "Don't complain about being too skinny." The last line of the post is: "Yes, [thin shaming is] all part of the patriarchal perfect-woman bullshit that no one can live up to, but let’s face it, when fat bodies aren’t constantly devalued the way thin bodies are, I’ll listen to you complain."

What the fuck do I care if thin people complain about being too thin? As long as they're not trying to pretend they don't have thin privilege because they're 'too' thin, they can complain about whatever the fuck they want to. I'm not the Internet Emperor (I have to keep reminding the trolls about this. I don't know why they're trying to anoint me as Ruler of All the Internets but again, I DON'T WANT IT).

Problems suck. Everyone has problems. Just because this is a blog about fat oppression and thin privilege doesn't mean everyone who has problems is oppressed. And no, while thin people have problems, they are not oppressed for being thin.

I'd rather be ugly than a willfully ignorant shitstain who spams social justice blogs to whinge that privileged people aren't being talked about enough.

While you might not want to appease the thinsplainers now might be a good time to point out that having privilege does not make you a bad person. And while confronting your privilege may be uncomfortable, it's by doing so that you ensure you don't do or say offensive things. This blog isn't saying you're evil because you're skinny, it's saying that the culture that celebrates your body type is flawed and dangerous and it'd be great if you realized that (and maybe even tried to combat it).

Absolutely. The thing is, this is said in the FAQ and repeatedly across the blog, and would become obvious if someone took any serious kind of glance at the blog. My frustration doesn't come from ignorance--well, not primarily from ignorance. It comes from willful ignorance and the stunningly deep privilege it takes to make a social justice blog all about your privileged hurt feelings (while not even bothering to actually figure out what the social justice blog is about, in the first place).

No matter how many times we say that, "Yes, thin people have problems to and this is about structural privilege/oppression and doesn't imply that individual thin people aren't subject to harassment/insults/annoyances" -- even if EVERY BLOG POST SAID THAT -- we'd still get these messages to the tune of, "Why do you hate thin people so much?"

The reason why we get these messages isn't because we aren't being clear about the differences between individual problems and systemic oppression. The reason we get these messages is because many privileged people are very uncomfortable when you claim that they don't deserve and didn't earn many of the advantages they get for being part of a privileged class. Because, just maybe, they've based a good deal of self-worth on the existence of these advantages. And maybe, just maybe, they don't want to feel guilty for profiting off the oppression of others and just want to blithely continue on enjoying those privileges without having to think more deeply about them.

That's why privileged people fight against checking their privilege. Not because they think we're wrong. Because they're scared shitless that we're right.
