Quid Pro Quo - This For That

Damian al Ghul has spent his entire life learning what it means to be the Heir of the Demon. He has done everything that was asked of him. He tries harder, hoping for the crumbs of encouragement given to him when his mother is in a particularly good mood. Talia tells him stories of his father and the Bats. Talia tells him that once he proves himself, his father will come and teach him to be the Heir of the Bat too.

When his father does come for him, Damian is thrown into a world unrecognizable from the one he's known. But Damian is good at adapting, he can figure this out too.

How Damian came to live in Gotham and the Wayne family's efforts to teach him about family.

Thinking about Astarion + Kar'niss friendship stuff. I feel like if you could recruit Kar'niss to your camp, he'd eventually take an interest in Astarion's sewing. Maybe he'd offer him some of his own silk in exchange for Astarion teaching him how to alter clothing to fit him. Sometimes they go out blood-hunting together. Just two terrifying BFFs being fashionable and a little unhinged together.

So been having thoughts about an Arcana-Leverage crossover (another thing to list under things to write but never do) here are some of my ideas on the subject:

Asra: Probably a Thief or Grifter, swift with a smile and a quick witty word to disarm, not allowing anyone to be the wiser. Probably helps that his back ground on the streets gives him the ability to read people

Julian: Grifter for sure, a lot like Sophie from the Leverage side, terrible actor on stage but great at being whoever he needs to be for the bit. He enjoys the high stakes and even uses his doctor skills to get away with things (probably left his work as a doctor after something happened).

Portia: Thief and loving it! She has the fastest hands and is always willing to do the dangerous stunts. She would totally jump off that building…with the proper rigging of course!

Muriel: You would think big muscles must be the Hitter but I put him more as a Hacker. He likes to be secluded and I could imagine him holding up somewhere away from people fighting the powers that be with a click of a mouse.

Nadia: Grifter with a bit of Mastermind, though I have a hard time believing she would give up her sense of the law to be apart of the usual team. I imagine she probably would be a person to assist like someone who uses their connections to help the team in a pinch if she thinks they can.

Lucio: Probably would want you to be Hitter and would probably not be too bad at it. I think he would be like Harry Wilson in Leverage: Redemption, guy who is at the top of the ‘bad guys’ till he sees the errors of his ways and tries to better himself. Would think he might try to be a Mastermind but would probably get frustrated.

And now for some self indulgence, my MC’s the Songbirds:

Robin: Mastermind, which feels a little like I’m sticking him there to be in charge but Robin has got big dad energy. He knows his team and how they work, reading everything and everyone to keep them safe. He goes through all scenarios so that he can figure out the best course of action.

Sparrow: Grifter but also Hitter. She can smooth talk you but she can also drop you with a punch to the face. She’s mastered how to disarm as well as incapacitate people, plus she has her trusty taser if things go south.

Lark: Speedy Thief and Hacker, always up for anything and an assistant who will work in the field for Muriel. He loves making up the fun stuff like fake viruses or illusionary videos that hide the truth.

6 months later : 

Andy has taken an interest in Nile she's still trying to deny. Quynh is obsessed with finding all she can on how Andy has been living – too angry to love her, to in love with her to hate her. And Nile keeps having dreams about a woman who she's increasingly attracted to while trying not to panic every time Andy gets shot.

I was thinking about how shocked Yuuri looks when Victor is physically affectionate/demonstrative at the start of their relationship, and it occurred to me that it's probably because Yuuri has been chubby, and that often makes one very concious of the space they take up in the world. And that has the painful side effect of making one put distance between themselves and others, especially people who are of romantic interest.

And then I was sad.
