Join us upstairs at the Billy DeFrank Center on Saturday, July 11th 7pm-8:30pm for a writing workshop facilitated by Sara Gonzales of Brown and Proud Press in Chicago.
***This workshop is an intentional healing space ONLY for people who identify as people of color. Please honor and respect that***
"This will be a writing workshop focused around identity and our [often multiple] places of origin. We will be grounding ourselves in trusting our ancestral memory to help us speak truth to power through poetry or short narratives. Workshop will be in circle form- where we create a center piece in the circle & generate lists to use as writing prompts. We will draw from some excerpts of poetry and stories from Cherie Moraga and other queer POC writers [myself included]. Welcome to POC at any place in their writing journey. If you work with youth or any sort of radical education work, this may be helpful for you to think about building an open writing/sharing space in your own place of work or service."
