Dude, jokes aside, I’m actually proud of this because I just now figured out the whole motion/gaussian blur and it almost matched the ring camera quality lol. I might paint the Blot in later, but it’s fine for now.

since it’s never been made abundantly clear, when do you all think the thinner disaster took place?

here’s some of my opinions on the date:

i used to think it happened in 1928, since the opening cutscene stated that mickey did the thinner disaster and *then* got popular, but there are three problems: 1. i do not think on the very first day mickey was born he destroyed an entire civilisation and 2. yen sid only came into existence in 1940 (debatably) 3. the thinner disaster took place on march 25th and mickey wasnt born yet

so, what is march 25th? it’s the day the episode  “thru the mirror” takes place. never says the year in time, but since the episode takes place in 1936, its safe to assume that the date would be march 25th, 1936. sounds very reliable, except the fact that the gremlins can be seen during the thinner disaster cutscene, and they came out in 1943

but, in my opinion, i think it took place sometime in the mid-60s, probably 1963. warren spector said he’d only use characters from or before 1963, so in universe it’d make sense if yen sid didn’t allow new characters to come into wasteland after the thinner disaster. 1963 means mickey already had a new for himself but continued to become more popular so overall i feel like that’d be the most realistic date.

the only thing that i think messes up that date is the rides. for example the magic carpets ride in gremlin village opened in walt disney world in 2001 so..... im just.. going to ignore that and say oswald was ahead of his time.

also there’s other opinions, i’ve heard a lot of people say they think it happened sometime in the 1980s, and even in the 2000s, but i personally have always believed it happened earlier in wasteland’s life than later.

(also  if you read this far how long do you think the blot wars lasted??? i personally want to say it took year(s) but i don’t have any clue honestly)
