Summary:
“Jimmy and I have a fantastic rapport which seems to be building more and more and more. We just spent some time down in the bottom of the West Indies on an island called Dominica...This was on mid-tour break, the end of February; we didn't go back to England…It set us into a great mood to meet the rest of the band getting back from England for the second half of the tour. It's the first time I haven't gone tootling back to the farm in Wales trembling. Instead I went and really enjoyed myself.”
“The Virgin Islands is actually coming at the end of this section of the tour…I’ve got a friend who’s got a rum shop, on the other side of Dominica, and it’s right away from everything, you know? It’ll be good to see him, and I know he’s got the right attitude to life, and to fit in his spot will do me a lot of good for about a week.”
“On this day in 1975, I went to Dominica between Led Zeppelin tours to meet up with beat poet Royston Ellis who was residing and writing in a building catering as a cricket pavilion, rum bar and living quarters in Mero outside the capital Roseau…I have fond memories of the local ‘joy juice’.”
