The Sand Users of Sunagakure
todays akatsuki silliness from egge
Fun Fact: 60% of all Kazekages have been murdered by Akatsuki members. 40% of them involved Sasori.
it's cuckold's day!
just the silly joke when the russian cucklovod (puppeteer) sounds similar to cuckold 🤡
btw, I love the base colors, too
Biju-inherited kekei genkai (2): Shukaku and the Kazekage clan
In an earlier post I used the example of the line descended from Uzumaki Kushina to prove the concept of jinchuriki-descended bloodlines inheriting some of the biju's traits and abilities—in a word, a biju-inherited kekei genkai.
This has some fun applications to draw about the Kazekage clan :3
Let's go over the (sparse) canon facts we do have:
The Sandaime, Yondaime (Rasa) and Godaime (Gaara) Kazekages all have a form of sand manipulation
Gaara's Sand manipulation is Shukaku's own ability as he is his jinchuriki
The Sandaime and Yondaime's Iron Sand and Gold Sand manipulation both stem from the Magnet release and were both created with Shukaku's power in mind (the first as an imitation and the second as a counter)
Rasa is Gaara's father, but there's no mention of the Sandaime being related to them
Rasa have the same dark circles as Gaara
Shukaku has Magnet Release
It’s stated in Gaara Hidden that Gaara inherited his father’s Magnet Release
So the way canon presents things is that:
the Ichibi (and his jinchurikis) has a Sand Manipulation power,
Suna developed a technique mimicking the biju's inate ability with magnet release. (just like Minato inventing the Rasengan based off biju bombs!)
The Magnet release being a kekei genkai, it’s not a big leap to deduce that the Sandaime and Yondaime are, in fact, related—thus, Kazekage clan. Gaara having inherited the Magnet release fits nicely in that hypothesis.
Nothing groundbreaking so far, but now I wanna talk about Rasa’s dark circles.
Cuz we agree that the dark circles are an Ichibi jinchuriki thing, right? At first I assumed (like everyone did I suppose) that Gaara had developed those eyebags from the never-sleep-or-Shukaku-will-take-over thing, but as it turns out Gaara had them from birth
Deduction: this is like the Kyubi bloodline’s Fox Whiskers, the dark circles are after Shukaku’s own raccoon eyes.
Now, I said previously that you don’t get those marks from being a jinchuriki, but being descended from a jinchuriki. In Gaara’s case, you could argue that Shukaku was sealed in Gaara while he still was in Karura’s womb, ergo it counts, but then why in the world would Rasa have them?
I raise you this: the Kazekage clan has Ichibi jinchuriki ancestry—or more accurately, they carefully keep all Ichibi jinchurikis in the clan—and as a consequence they have a Shukaku-derived kekei genkai.
The Magnet release is originally Shukaku’s power, and it’s via his jinchurikis’ descendants that it passed on to humans.
Unlike the dojutsu clans, not every clan member gets the biju-inherited kekei genkai; those who do manifest some degree of a case of raccoon eyes—the deeper the bags the more compatible the person is with Shukaku’s chakra, and the more powerful their Magnet release (like with the number of whisker marks in those of the Kyubi jinchuriki bloodline!).
Also I call Konoha-centrism on the claim that Mito was the first jinchuriki in History. Suna was the first to seal down Shukaku, and they have been doing it for a looooong time.
However unlike the Uzumaki princess, they never had any excellent sealing master to design the seal, so their elaboration process is just a crude fuinjutsu base and then a loooong series of trial and error.
They noticed factors that helped increase the chances of a viable jinchuriki (never with absolute certainty however), like the chakra compatibility, and how a child born from a jinchuriki womb has a good chance to have it. BUT at the same time, they would learn the hard way what a dangerous business pregnancy is for a jinchuriki.
First of all, the flip side of the child receiving their Host-mother chakra (thus becoming more compatible as an Host themself) is the weakening of the mother’s seal, with the risk that Shukaku takes over and go on a rampage, as you know from canon. Second, Shukaku is malevolent and thus his chakra is corrosive, harmful on purpose to the child, so higher chance of miscarriage if he doesn’t have a compatible chakra to begin with, potentially even death of the mother in complications—which would also mean that they lose Shukaku, so they have to wait for him to reincarnate and hunt him down again.
And this would be how their biju sealing art evolved to the practice of placing a seal on the womb to directly turn the unborn baby (whose compatibility has been established) into a jinchuriki. —> has the benefits of a jinchuriki mother and few of the drawbacks, tho it’s even more taxing on the mother (rip Karura)
Oh yeah and Mito herself didn’t have a good time with pregnancy either, will do a post specially about her
