I thought I'd throw out one last "music video" of my pal Billy Mickelson's work. This was the first song I really heard from him, the first time I saw him play live. I was supposed to go see a live Jazz show of some sort for a Jazz Appreciation class, and instead I saw Third Seven. And I'm glad I did. This song is called "Cleansing Fire", and I decided to pair it with this awesome art I found by an artist who calls herself Evolvana (look her up on DeviantArt). So enjoy, and happy weekend!
According to the ancient Celtic calendar, we are currently within the Thirteenth and final month of the year, each month being based on the 28 day cycle of the moon, called "Ruis". This month is associated with the Elder Tree, as trees were very sacred to the Celts, and the "totem" spirit or emblem, if you will, for the month and birth sign, was that of the Raven. The Raven being a sacred bird, a symbol of mystery, wisdom, magic, and death. The Raven was also thought in some respect to be the "Guardian of the Gate", as he would help souls cross over to the Other World for rest, before being reborn back into this world.
So to celebrate this time (as I myself am Ruis/Sagittarius), and the closing of yet another year, I thought I would do another beautiful cello music video, this time combining TWO great Oregon artists together, the music of Billy Mickelson, and the accompanying art of Stephanie Lostimolo. Here's another video I did for a beautiful instrumental cello masterpiece from my good buddy Billy Mickelson! The song is called "Himinn", and I can't speak for what it means to Billy, or what inspired him to write it, but to me, it makes me think of the ancient places of the world, like Stonehenge, and the antiquity of Nature itself. Got another, simple little "music video" I made, music by Billy Mickelson, this time a beautiful, peaceful song called "Something Oceanic". Billy is from the Pacfic Northwest, and I was born there and have been there many times since, kinda long to move back. This song absolutely captures, to me, that feeling of being on a cloudy, Northwest beach, looking out at rolling waves, just soaking in the beauty of Nature.
