Researcher Katrina Kimport profiles women who aborted in the 3rd trimester for reasons other than fetal anomaly or life endangerment.
“Many Americans–pro-choice and pro-life alike–believe that no one seeks later abortions except if the woman’s life is in danger or there is a fatal fetal abnormality. Here at Secular Pro-Life we’ve repeatedly discussed the evidence demonstrating that the belief that most later abortions are medical emergencies is a myth. Kimport’s work corroborates our point.
Kimport emphasizes that “the circumstances that lead to someone needing a third-trimester abortion may have overlaps with the pathways to abortion at other gestations.” She says she finds two pathways to third trimester abortion:
1. New information – this can include discovery of fetal anomalies, but it can also include discovery of the pregnancy itself, meaning the woman doesn’t realize she is pregnant until months into the pregnancy
2. Barriers to earlier abortion – this means by the time the woman finds an abortion provider and gets together the funds for the abortion, she is in her third trimester
Trailer for the documentary After Tiller
AFTER TILLER intimately explores the highly controversial subject of third-trimester abortions in the wake of the 2009 assassination of practitioner Dr. George Tiller. The procedure is now performed by only four doctors in the United States, all former colleagues of Dr. Tiller, who risk their lives every day in the name of their unwavering commitment toward their patients. Directors Martha Shane and Lana Wilson have created a moving and unique look at one of the most incendiary topics of our time, and they’ve done so in an informative, thought-provoking, and compassionate way.

Thoughts on Media: Trials that Should Have Been Covered: House of Horrors
Let me start off by saying I am pro-choice, if a mother wishes to abort her FETUS then she should be able. Until it is a child, by legal definition, it is essentially nothing more than a parasite feeding off her body.
Now, here’s my problem with abortion; not everyone is responsible enough to take care of the problem within the LEGAL time limit and therefore they have to resort to illegal methods to resolve their situation. So who do they turn to?
Meet Kermit Gosnell, born February 9, 1941 and former physician, is the sick, degenerate excuse for a man who ran an abortion clinic in Philadelphia.
What makes him so horrible? This individual would inject third trimester fetuses with Digoxin, which is used to treat congestive heart failure, before they were born to kill them.
Now, what does Digoxin toxicity involve? Digoxin toxicity is painful: stomach pain, slow heart rate, and headaches to start with. Eventually it causes cardiac arrest and death. Now, not only are the fetuses he used this technique on past the 24 week period, but almost all could have been born healthy and would have been able to survive. What he did to the ones that survived and were considered live birth (crying, moving, breathing) was even worse.
He murdered them, brutally. If you happen to believe that what I mentioned above was acceptable, no one can argue that what follows is in any way ethical. This man would take the third trimester live births and “snip” them.
What is snipping? Snipping is the nickname he gave to taking a pair of scissors and cutting the baby’s spinal cord.
What did he call this murder? This man called it “ensuring fetal demise”, in fact, he went so far as to make jokes about these dead children:
"This baby is big enough to walk around with me or walk me to the bus stop."
When the FBI raided the offices of the “Women’s Medical Society” they expected to find evidence of illegal sales of prescription drugs. They found it, and so much more. There was blood on the floor and women, already drugged, waiting in line for their illegal abortions. The instruments were not sterile and what equipment he had was rusty and dust-covered. In fact, there was no functioning resuscitation equipment in the entire building. They found 47 aborted fetuses in the refrigerators.
One of his assistants made this statement:
"If… a baby was about to come out, I would take the woman to the bathroom, they would sit on the toilet and basically the baby would fall out and it would be in the toilet and I would be rubbingher back and trying to calm her down for two, three, four hours until Dr. Gosnell comes…"
Here’s an image of one of the infants this man killed (not for the faint-hearted):
He was tried for seven counts of this first-degree murder as well as the third-degree murder of one of his customers.
He was given life in prison for three counts of first-degree murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter.
What did he do when he found out? He looked at each of the jurors and smirked.
So why was there NO serious coverage of this? One of the reporters who was there, J.D. Mullane, took this picture of the reserved seat for the media:
That’s the damn question here.
People will always do sick and awful things, but why wasn't the media all over this? This is the sort of thing the public needs to be aware of, women who choose to have third trimester abortions need to understand how awful what they do is and what the repercussions of their actions are.
