on the other hoof hobbits are incredibly gossipy and close minded about other hobbits. everytime they meet new hobbits theyre like "man hobbits from [place 100 feet away] are so queer and uncouth. hate those guys" on that basis they could maybe be mildy homophobic. at the same time i feel like so many queer stories are about queerphobia and man maybe i just want my blorbos to kiss and do hand stuff without the looming threat of "kya were both boys we cant do this"
