id rather not link my personal spotify but this is what ive got so far (bare in mind im super new to paul + the beatles so this playlist can still grow, also some of these are cowritten by John and also some of these are kind of filler to just make the playlist a good length) the first pair is I Saw Her Standing There and I Think He Knows and honestly I think I mostly did it caue I wanted something more uptempo in the mix and these are both light-hearted fun love songs. They also both mention the age seventeen lol. then I've got She Loves You/ How You Get The Girl: both advice songs about winning someone back who you've wronged.

You Won't See Me/Forever & Always: both these desperate PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH ME songs but also I'm not sure what I would tell you if I was able to see you and I'm really worried about how this is going to end

Then I've got Eleanor Rigby, to which I've assigned two songs actually, mirrorball and epiphany. They're just all these kind of like high-concept, existential songs. mirrorball explores this type of person (akin to "the lonely people") and epiphany is just kind of also honing in on these two people with a very kind of isolated experience of life.

Then LMAO so I interpret Maxwell's Silver Hammer as Paul's response to being called a softie who only plays granny music. Like "OH??? Is THIS granny music??" while keeping the music on brand. So I assigned it Blank Space cause of that kind of satirical element I hear in it + no body, no crime cause making murder seem fun.

okay the next one is Lovely Rita, betty which is weird lol, don't quite get it myself. I guess just the idea of having these named characters and I guess there's also a bit of a funny tone in Lovely Rita ("When are you free to take some tea with me?") like there is in betty ("Will you kiss me on the porch in front of all your stupid friends?")

Penny Lane and Christmas Tree Farm. Just both kind of fantasizing about one's childhood home.

She's Leaving Home and champagne problems. Both about someone just up and leaving and completely blindsiding the person they left and lowkey ruining their lives. But also the other person towards the end begins to realize that maybe there were signs that this was gonna happen.

Oh! Darling is sonically really close to Lover (Taylor even says the bassline in Lover is Paul-inspired so I'm relatively sure this song was a direct influence) but contentwise it reminds me of Cornelia Street cause of the PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!!! THAT WOULD BE THE WORST THING ON EARTH element to it.

then Yesterday and this is me trying just kind of both have this just contemplative vibe, this regret about how things played out and feeling like you lost control of things.

and then lastly I've got Here Today / marjorie that are both this tale of memories and grief and feeling like someone is talking to you through the song you're writing.

Sherlock/Diverget AU from months ago

If you remember this from a while ago, you put everyone from Sherlock in factions, and well, I wrote a little something.

The ceremony was over much faster than he thought, or maybe he just blanked out a bit. His mother was avoiding his gaze from her seat in with the rest of Abnegation, but that was alright, he reasoned. She still had Harry. That was what was important. And Harry was born to be in Abnegation. Of course. Of course.

But then again maybe he thought the ceremony was over a bit too fast because “Watson” was at the end of the alphabet. Before he knew it, he was rising with the rest of the factions, and following the Dauntless at a brisk pace outside. The sky hung low with clouds, and he found himself doing his best to keep up with the much more long-legged faction members. He stopped though, short, when he hit the sudden realization that he was going to have to jump onto an oncoming train.

“This, this has to be some sort of test,” said the girl next to him. At first, John didn’t know if she had been talking to herself or him, but when she looked at him expectantly, he managed, “I s'pose it’s about the initiation.”

She was Erudite. Or formerly, anyways, considering she was dressed in blue. Her hair was cut in a short blonde bob that swept across her face in the light wind. “I’m Mary, by the way.”

“John.” John said.

“That’s a proper Stiff name,” she laughed. It was a light sound, like she laughed often and easily.

“Well you can’t exactly say your parents were the most imaginative either.” John found himself saying as the sound of metal on metal grew louder and he poised his legs to jump.

Mary laughed again. “Never met a sarcastic Stiff before.”

“I’ve never met an Erudite at all.” John said. The train came speeding down the rails, and soon many of the Dauntless and the initiates started their ascent. John did his best to figure out when was the best time to jump, but Mary was already at his side saying, “Based on your height and approximate weight and the speed of the train we should jump…now!”

And Mary the former Erudite grabbed the woolen sleeve of his shirt and dragged him forward, jumping onto the train.
