I just keep rewatching the scene where Hirose almost says something but just... whatever that was

It's like... he was definitely waiting for Nakamura to walk home with him probably after exchanging (or maybe only receiving) chocolate from Hana. Literally no one else is there. No one. Why the hell was Hirose just... standing there, clearly long after everyone has gone home?

I feel like it had been a week and Hirose was trying to tell Nakamura about Hana.

In the sense that 'hey i got a gf! and you're my friend and i want to tell you!'

but it feels like... Hirose ducks the first question of 'why is he still there?' THEN he gets weird and more nervous than we've ever see him

’俺はちょっと...' 'I was... well...." like trailing off, unable to word it right. and starts the same sentence of ’あのさ—’ multiple times which is like

'heyyy, so' or 'listen....' like it's not inherently negative or means he's going to say something negative but he uses it MULTIPLE TIMES and people do that to stall, when they have something hard to say.

He's basically just 'well, I uh... so like... uh—' DOG S S SPIT IT OUT HIROSE

I feel like... when he goes again to say

'中村はさ...'　TO ME I don't feel like he was originally going to ask about chocolate. I feel like Hirose was having his own 'go for it!' moment. 'So do you.... like anyone?' 'So...are you doing anything for valentine's day?' like maybe he wanted to hang out?? but last second changed it to asking about the chocolate

Then when Nakamura is like 'NO?'

Hirose might be waiting for Nakamura to ASK if HE got any chocolate so that he can talk about his girlfriend. So that he can tell Nakamura about HIS GIRLFRIEND THAT HE HASN'T TOLD HIM ABOUT.

THEN Hirose, again. 'あのさ、’ all hesitant when Nakamura DOESNT ask him so he has to awkwardly tell him like... well i did haha cool right??? he's so struggling through this it's so unlike the hirose we've seen

'じつはおれ’ is interesting because 'jitsu' is like 'actuallyyyy' or... the truth is—' so if it was more like 'the truth is.... '

It makes more sense to me because he would be going into the answer of WHY he was waiting, instead of deflecting the question about chocolate when that's not even what he wanted to ask or say.

absolutely hysterical to me that we got lunar chronicles animated adaptation announced this week but nothing on alecto book news. maybe just me but the lunar chronicles kid to locked tomb adult pipeline is so real. just wanna see some classic fantasy/fairytale motifs shot into space. maybe we didn't get the announcement we wanted this week but we got the announcement we NEEDED.
