the way people who defend trans men against transmisandry/transandrophobia often need to cover for themselves by saying "not that misandry itself is real/systematic" or "it's transandro phobia, not trans androphobia" or some other phrase that downplays the hatred of MEN and it's impact. not to mention speaking of certain standards men are held to as being semantically not misandry but merely "toxic masculinity" or "misogyny that happens to affect certain types of men". lots of downplaying and pretending men aren't affected by these issues is misandry in of itself, how do people not get this?
now i completely understand that many people are just trying to avoid getting harassed and this isn't an attack on them but the immense double standards are rotting my brain cells whenever i read them. it always feels like people need to skimp and step around how much of a problem many assumptions about men actually are in society. and how much men are affected by their issues. and how a lot of that gets passed onto trans men because they identify as men. like i think that's an important thing to note here regarding transandrophobia.
not to mention that trying to avoid talking about misandry makes talking about transphobia of any variety even more confusing and difficult. we really need to acknowledge both misogny and misandry as real phenomenons that need each other to thrive, in order to combat transphobia and sexism in general, semantics regarding "oppression"/"privilege"/"systematic" or misogynystic mras be damned.
this is sexism, misandry and transandrophobia.
