we believe we are not broken.

that they could not get to us.

but the top of the mountain is merely the beginning of the fall

the wind bites in such a manor that there will always be a chill in our bones,

but we struggle to stay upright in this endless fall.

bright, beautiful, burning wings

streak across the sky

as we tumble and tumble;

we are gasping for air, but we are suffocating

there is a loud boom, and then the illusion of a clearing

...

underwater lurks something far worse;

this celestial gaze will not be averted

the eye of the hurricane is silent, too silent,

and then we tumble off to sleep.

they tell us not to sleep, in the ocean,

for when we close our eyes, the ocean blinks.

they tell us not to breathe, in the ocean, for the sea will wrap around our lungs,

and crush them,

burning our throats until it turns into hellfire.

we explode into a supernova,

and the stars we once so carefully lit are winking out.

the wildfire encases our souls.

it rages against our broken and weary hearts;

reaching for a way to burn us into ash

it rages in vain, but not forever

when we are

all ground down

into bits,

our ashes just return to the winds.
