Nice Ask Week! Desi, since we know that we're getting a steamy Tarlos scene in season 5, what is your ideal scenario for this scene? Also, if you could retroactively add one steamy Tarlos scene to season 4, where would you put it?

Absolute ideal scene, and what I cannot stop thinking about since we heard "steamy" is a shower scene!! We know TK hurts himself somehow in the previous episode, so maybe he needs Carlos' help to shower and we already know Carlos would never be opposed to helping TK bathe 👀. And then whether things just get hot and heavy on their own, or Carlos is just so grateful and overwhelmed that TK is okay after whatever happened to him, but we get some gratuitous making out, which includes lots of tongue and them stripping each other out of their clothes, lots of moaning and then the shot ends with either the bathroom door closing or them stepping into their shower, that may or may not exist! Here is hoping, Anne!! 🤞

Oh boy, and if I could add a steamy Tarlos scene to somewhere in Season 4 🤔 I think I would have loved to see something sometime after 4x04, where Carlos is physically healed at least, and after his marriage has been annulled, and it's one of the first times Tarlos is intimate again, after everything they went through. Either TK or Carlos make a bad "No longer a married man" joke 😂, and they can just be fully each other's again, with no more secrets between them! It would be passionate and emotional, with so many "I love yous" and tons of touching and cuddling during and after 💖

On a spicier note, I can imagine after the formal Fire House event in 4x10, that they could not keep their hands off of each other because they looked so good, and they had to watch the other gets lots of attention while they were attempting to schmooze potential high donors. So I like to think there was plenty of steamy sex that night after they got home and they reminded each other of who they belonged to 🥰.

Maddie, I love your writing SO MUCH. And I also love reading anything and everything you have to say about Lone Star. If you could add one Tarlos scene to season 4, what would it be? And what Tarlos scene would you love to see in season 5?

off the top of my head, i think other than just giving them another lighthearted moment in the vein of the silly little canapé moment, i’d do one of three things: add a scene where we see carlos recuperate a little after he’s saved in abandoned—whether it’s him in the hospital with his family, or him and tk coming home, or him grappling with going back to work; add a scene with just the boys getting into wedding planning in/around the time of 4x08 and being giddy about it to contrast with the general chaos and parent stuff that control freaks was all about; or fill in the blanks between the soulmate conversation and the phone call with owen.

for season five i constantly am torn between wanting just some good n angsty grief-stricken carlos trying to balance work/being a husband/being haunted by gabriel’s loss and the threat of someone out there wanting his father dead (and tk’s reaction to it all) and just…….nothing but happiness. give me a domestic morning in with them getting ready for work for the first time after their honeymoon, all tanned and moon-eyed and hating the thought of being separated for a whole shift because they’re married now. give me ronen’s dream of a shower scene ajdnskdn. give me a tarlos/gracejudd double date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! give me tarlos being homebodies and having their little tea and puzzle night after cooking together and dancing in the kitchen. give me tarlos bringing their friends out for a night on the town where they maybe have to do some off-shift rescuing, because i’m so obsessed with the few calls on the show of the characters needing to save someone outside of work and having it be a callback to 1x10 with tarlos would just be. perfect <3

I know I am very late to this, but it is still technically the weekend here in the Pacific time zone, so here we go. I'll be using the questions for Artists/GIF makers. (There are also questions for writers in @welcometololaland's original post!)

Rules: List your WIPs below (if you only work on one project at a time, feel free to include future WIPs/ideas!) then answer the following questions. Then, tag as many people as you have WIPs (or more).

1. WIP List:

I am so afraid to see these all written out in a way where I can count them. [deep breath] This is a rather mixed-up list of gif sets for 911 Lone Star, Schitt's Creek, and The X-Files. Also, since they're gif sets, they don't really have titles, just nicknames:

2. Which WIP is your most complex?

Oh gosh. Anything that involves coloring of more than one scene, really. That's what slows me down. And pretty much all of these fall into that category. Which is a big part of why they're not done yet.

3. Do any of your WIPs involve you using a technique/style that you haven't used before? What inspired you to try it?

Um. Possibly? I'm not far enough along to know for sure, but I think a couple of them might involve trying out a new text treatment.

4. Which WIP do you expect will take you the longest?

I am historically a very bad judge of this. Lol. There are plenty of potential obstacles in that list. I'm afraid to jinx it/make things worse by saying anything specific.

5. Which WIP are you finding the most enjoyable to create?

The "lizard arc" set has been very enjoyable to play with. And I suspect that "he's a jungle cat" will be very fun to eventually get back to.

6. Do you have a favourite character to draw/stitch/paint/depict? Are they in many of your WIP projects?

Hmmm. Not really. I mean, I certainly tend to focus on my favorite ships, but I can't really pick a favorite from that group.

7. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?

All of them. Because I am self-taught and constantly second guessing absolutely everything.

8. Have any of your WIPs been struck by the curse of creator's block?

I suppose so. Although It's more lack of energy or just… utter frustration that results in a WIP getting a time out.

9. Do any of your WIPs contain characters outside the main ship? How are you finding creating those?

Yeah, definitely. There are a couple on that list that focus on other relationships.

10. What emotions are you hoping to convey through your WIPs?

It varies. Some are angsty. Some are meant to be funny. But I think, in general, they are all trying to convey love.

11. Are there any features/details you are finding challenging in your WIPs?

[gestures wildly at the lighting teams on every show, thwarting my best efforts to see what's going on]

12. Which WIP has the most complex shading/colouring?

Don't know yet. All of them. Lol. I can tell you that the "fancy dinner" set has been in time out for months now. Because of lighting and coloring.

13. Which WIP has the most complex background?

Not sure this one applies to me.

14. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for?

Oh, I really don't know. My opinions here change all the time.

15. Do you dream about any of your WIPs?

I normally do not remember my dreams. But very recently, I dreamt that I had finished one of those sets. I was very disappointed to wake up and realize it wasn't true.

16. Do any of your WIPs have particular complexities that your other art doesn't?

Hmm, I don't think so.

17. Are any of your WIPs commissions?

No, but some of them are friendly requests or things that came about from chatting here on tumblr.

18. Do you have a character that is more difficult to draw/stitch/paint/depict? Are they in many of your WIP projects?

I'm going to go with Patrick Brewer. That boy's face just… goes nuclear bright whenever I try to brighten a scene overall. There are a lot of rather pale characters on that show, but they take pretty well to coloring/brightening. He does not.

19. Tell us one thing we don't know about one or more of your WIPs.

Um. Some items have been on that list for years. They're not abandoned, I promise. I am just not in charge of the creative process.

12. brand of haircare/bodycare/skincare that you trust 100%?

Hmm, I like The Ordinary for skincare! I have several of their serums, which I had to research bc you aren't supposed to use some of them together. But I use a vitamin C serum some days and exfoliants on other days. Also, they're affordable. I can't stand overspending on skincare.

19. the veggie you dislike the most?

As soon as I type this I'll think of 17 other vegetables I hate, but mostly I don't hate veggies. Least favorites are probably mushrooms and raw onions.

23. do you wear jewelry?

I used to almost never wear jewelry, but now I wear it every day. I have a silver pendant from Etsy with an imprint of a yarrow plant. It looks like this (below) but I have it on a silver chain. I also wear two silver rings every day and I want another one but I'm not sure which finger.

And I have 3 piercings in each lobe. Right now the bottom is a small silver huggie hoop and the other two are black beveled studs. I'm also looking to get my right helix pierced in the next few months.

Nice ask day!! What movie or show have you rewatched the most times?

I mean, I have managed to get at least one watch a day of the Red, White, and Royal Blue movie since it first came out.

It is embedded in my soul and I have no regrets.

But I honestly think my answer to this question is the Disney animated Aladdin because I was fully obsessed with that movie as a kid and I still love it today. Once upon a time I could actually quote the full thing, from beginning to end.

My guess for at least part of Wyatt’s news is that he’s dropped out of college or wants to drop out. Since Judd has made it clear that he doesn’t think college is necessary, it makes sense that Wyatt would go to him looking for support in that decision. I can’t really come up with anything else that feels likely, though. One of my first thoughts was that he’s having a child but I’m not sure how likely that is and I don’t think I want that to be it. However, it would be a funny kind of parallel…season 3 Wyatt tells Judd he has a son, season 4 Wyatt tells Judd he’s going to have a grandchild.

It is a double life altering announcement - so it could be both. He is leaving college & his gf or whatever is pregnant.

It would be pretty interesting to see Judd navigating that particular journey.

Even though I do think there is some possibility to this option, I am hoping it is not the direction they go in as well.

Why did I see that with just under 2 weeks until we get answers. This show really tests my patience sometimes - but they are good at keeping us hooked.

Patrick hears David before he sees him. He's not even being particularly loud; it's just that three years of marriage and five years in total have left Patrick singularly attuned to the lilt and cadence of David's voice, even when it's muffled behind the heavy doors of Elmdale General's emergency department. It gives him just enough time to take a deep breath and wipe the last hints of pain from his expression before David bursts through the closed door, his face pinched and hair sticking up as though someone has run their fingers through it over and over on the drive up.

"Hi, David," Patrick says sheepishly as David just looks carefully at him, hands hovering over his arms without touching.

"How much pain are you in, honey?" he asks; Patrick notices he keeps his gaze deliberately averted from where the nurse is carefully stitching the gash on his cheek closed.

"None," Patrick tells him, glad he didn't arrive fifteen minutes earlier. Patrick was… not quite as brave as he would have liked to be for the lidocaine shot. "Really, David, I'm fine."

"Uh huh," David says. "Great. So I can tell you what an idiot you are, then."

Patrick blinks up at him. "Pardon?"

"You heard me." David has his arms folded now and his fingers are pinching at the fabric of his sweater, which is how Patrick knows he's really, genuinely upset. "Why on earth would you try and climb down the side of a cliff?"

"Okay, it wasn't a cliff," Patrick says. David rolls his eyes as though he knows Patrick is trying to avoid the topic, which isn't entirely inaccurate. "I lost… something… off the side of the trail and I didn't realise how steep it was until I tried to go after it."

David purses his lips, and Patrick hopes he won't—

"What did you lose?"

—ask.

Patrick lets his eyes slide to the nurse, whose lips are determinedly pressed together as she stitches. "Mlkibljcp," he mumbles, knowing it's too much to ask that David will let it go.

"Didn't quite catch that, honey."

Patrick sighs. "My lucky Blue Jays cap," he says more clearly, bracing himself. 

"Mmkay. My husband and business partner threw himself off the side of a mountain for a snapback. That's totally fine," David says tightly. "Did you at least have a first aid kit with you this time?"

Patrick clears his throat.

"Seriously?"

"It was in my backpack!" Patrick tries to defend himself. "I just… thought it would be easier to grab the cap without my backpack on."

David nods quickly. "Yes, much easier to bleed out at the bottom of a cliff."

"David," Patrick says softly. "It was just a couple of scrapes and bruises."

"And six stitches in your cheek," the nurse adds, rather unhelpfully in Patrick's opinion, as she ties the last stitch off. "I'm just going to grab a butterfly bandage for that cut on your arm. I'll be back in a minute." Once she leaves David just stares at him, eyes glassy.

"You could have died," he whispers finally, sinking down into the chair the nurse vacated and grabbing Patrick's hands in his own. "When I got a call from the hospital, I thought—"

"Shh, I know." Patrick knows when David is being dramatic for the sake of being dramatic and when he's genuinely anxious, and the trembling in David's hands is well and truly the latter. "I was an idiot, you're right. I won't do it again."

"Mm, I seem to recall hearing that promise once before," David says wryly. "While I carried you up a mountain. If this was all an elaborate ploy to get me to come on another hike with you, it's not going to work."

Patrick barks out a laugh, bringing David's hands to his lips. "Lesson learned, I promise," he says softly. "I'm sorry I scared you."

David huffs, a small smile playing at the edge of his lips. "I was mostly scared I was going to have to learn how to use the lawnmower," he claims, but the way he leans into Patrick's side and lets out a shaky breath betrays him.
