Kids call them like they see them
My foster child of color is playing on the playground with 5-6 other kids at the park as I and several other parents watch. Busybee says "mommy!" And one of the little girls says, "no, your daddy is right there " as she points to an African-American man not too far from me. Busybee points at me this time and says again "mommy!" The little girl looks at me & I point at myself & nod my head. She tells Busybee, "there's your mommy, the white one!"
