five times kissed.

1. The first time was game. A literal game. Some of the lacrosse players and random girls at school were spending the afternoon at Lydia’s place. It didn’t took long before a bottle of beer was set on the floor. Allison wanted to make a remark about them not being twelve anymore, but she restrained herself. After a few spins, the bottle landed on her and, much to her surprise, Lydia. The brunette stared at her new friend hesitantly before leaning in and pressing her lips to hers. It was a chaste kiss, but it would be imprinted in her memory.
2. The second time was by mistake. Allison had never been good at holding her liquor, hence why she rarely drank. After a house party, they had gone back to Lydia’s place. If her father saw her state of inebriation he would kill her, so it was better so text and say she was spending the night at her friend’s. When the time of saying goodnight came, Allison aimed the kiss at Lydia’s cheek but the spinning room and the lack of self control caused her to kiss her lips instead. She was certain her best friend kissed her back. She never asked.
3. The third time was unexpected. Lydia was crying on her shoulder, tears getting her shirt damp. Allison cradled her friend in her arms. Her first love was gone, she had the right to cry, especially after everything they had been through. When Allison pulled away to clean Lydia’s tears, she became speechless. She was beautiful. Just like that with tears in her swollen eyes and her reddening nose; she was beautiful. Not thinking straight, Allison took the sides of her face and kissed her. It was a real kiss this time, slow and deliberate. She pulled back and apologized. They never spoke of it again.
4. The fourth time was perfect. She had been at the verge of death, but she was back. It baffled her how, as she closed her eyes for what she thought was the last time, all she could think about was Lydia. Allison had felt such sorrow in knowing she would never tell her best friend that her love for her was beyond friendship, that all the other kisses they shared were the best she ever had. Now she laid on her bed and her friend was right by her side, where she belonged. Come closer, she had said and as Lydia leaned in Allison rested her hand on the back of her head and pulled her in for a kiss. That was the first time she told her I love you in a different light.
5. And the fifth time… well, the fifth time was right after those words were said.
