Seriously though, thank you so much! This was one that I had left sitting for ages, but I'd also like to take a moment to shout out @bubblegumlefty for getting me into this ship :P
To say that the relationship between Elias and Jeff Hardy was an extremely strange one, would be somewhat of an understatement.
In all fairness, when they initially met it was as rivals almost constantly butting heads, which only seemed to grow in fervour and intensity. The incident of a suspected hit and run only seemed to stoke the fires even more dangerously, with the two men clawing at each other’s throats. It took one ‘Symphony of Destruction’ match to finally quell those tensions.
No one would have expected that to lead to Jeff and Elias igniting a tenuous friendship.
Nor would they have they expected it to grow into what it was now.
It was a cool morning at the Hardy Compound, with the two musicians lounging in Jeff’s living room and simply basking in each other’s presence. The radio was tuned to a classic rock station, ‘Roundabout’ by Yes playing softly. Elias adjusted himself as carefully as he could, since he didn’t want to move Jeff around too much, since the Enigma was laid across the top of him. He had to take a moment to appreciate the other’s expression.
Jeff’s eyes were shut, his chest gently rising and falling. His pale skin did demonstrate the effects of his age, but in this moment, he looked almost younger as the fine lines in his face seemed to smooth over. It also allowed Elias to notice all of the little details; the grey scattered in his elaborately styled beard, the winding vines tattooed down his arm, the small patch of his stomach peeking out from the hem of his shirt…
But most importantly of all, his little serene smile.
