The Manhattan Project premiered on June 13, 1986. The movie was about the school nerd Paul Stephens (Christopher Collet) and his aspiring journalistic girlfriend Jenny Anderman (Cynthia Nixon) attempt to expose John Mathewson (John Lithgow) secret nuclear work. He decided the best way to do it was to steal some radioactive material and create an atomic bomb for the science fair. The movie marked Robert Sean Leonard's first cinematic appearance. He had only appeared in a TV movie before this. ("The Manhattan Project" Movie Event)
