I kinda love the shaggy mountain man and most of my friends know I'm a sucker for a big bear man. Though I have never romanced Blackwell before I have seen the YouTube videos for it.

Also....how did I not know Blackwell and Josie had a THING for each other? Maker I am a bad DA fan

Blackwall would be the best boyfriend to have during a period.

You read that right. He would be the most supportive, understanding, and not-a-crybaby about his girlfriend having periods, especially if she’s younger. ((Read:  I read somewhere that Blackwall is meant to be the oldest companion, obviously, at mid-40s, early 50s. Solas is meant to be about 40, and everyone else is in their early to mid 30s except Sera who’s in her early 20s. The default Inquisitor, I’d clock her in at about 29-32ish. I’m only 23 so I naturally headcanon all my OCs younger than that, maybe 25, but that’s me. POINT IS, Blackwall would be extra soft to an Inky that’s 30 as opposed to when she’s like..49.))

Anyway. I’mma go into detail below the cut. Read on if you wish. 

Like. Alright. 

On the first day, when she throws herself out of bed at 6am, he doesn’t get annoyed. She had been sleeping on her side and then rolled onto her back/stomach, and she’s trying not to stain the bed. He gets up with her, gets towels and fresh clothes for her as she cleans up, makes her a hot cup of tea, the whole bit. Then, when she’s clean and protected, he holds her in his arms and uses his freakish body heat to rub warm, soothing circles into her lower back. He doesn’t squick out, not once, ever, because come on, he has/had? a sister, and he’s had women before. He understands and respect how natural it is. He knows how to navigate the hormone storms. He knows how weird cravings can get, and usually does his best to accommodate them. (One of my specific HC’s is that, when my rogue elf Vikara mentioned off-hand about wanting something spicy, he waited until she was asleep and then went and slaughtered an entire wyvern. He cooked up pretty much the whole thing (Bull would’ve been in their party because he’s her best friend,) in a special hot sauce he had traded one of his favorite daggers for (just because he knew she liked spicy food.) She’d cried because it was exactly what she wanted.) He has special elfroot poultices and salves he found along his travels that he'll massage into her back and abdomen to help her cramps whenever she asks.

He doesn’t track her periods or anything like that, but he can usually tell when it’s coming. Maybe she’s a little more oily than lately, maybe she’s breaking out, maybe she complains her breasts or back are hurting her. One time, Vikara cried over a nug they’d killed for dinner. He just...knows. 

And he’s always prepared. Even before they were dating, he always carried extra hygienic things with him whenever she asked him to come along. He even makes little pad-type-things which are pouches of cotton sewed into extremely soft, breathable fabric. (They’re reusable, if they have enough soap on hand and someone is feeling brave enough to clean it. (Once he and the Inky are dating, he can probably do it after a beer or two. He’s done much worse things in his life.)) 

He always knows when she needs her space and when she needs attention. Usually, he knows exactly when that line is broken, too. One time in the Emerald Graves, Vikara’d been grumbling about the heat and the mosquitoes for quite a while, but then she’d tripped, then stubbed her toe, then gotten her hair tangled in a tree, each and every thing making her more and more frustrated until finally, she just stopped and started crying. Not weepy, gross, childish crying, but the kind of crying that’s silent and steamingly hot. Bull and Dorian stepped away while Blackwall swooped in and scooped her up in his arms, letting her cry it out into his chest. (Bull gave her a piggy back ride for a while after that, to give her a chance to chill while she gossiped with Dorian.) 

And sex. Ooh boy, if there is one thing Thomas Rainier is not afraid of, it is period sex. He’s not like..extra into it or anything, like it’s not a kink of his, but he is absolutely not afraid to get a little gross to please his woman. It's just an added bonus that it helps her cramps. Ok, maybe he does like it just a little more than regular sex, but that’s usually because she’s usually the one to instigate during her period. Not that she doesn’t normally want to bone, but it’s more...carnal that week of the month, more needy, more heated, more heady. They’ve taken to camping a few dozen yards away from their other two companions for that week, especially after Vivienne made the terrible mistake of trying to go into Vikara’s tent to talk to her about their gameplan for the next day. 

He makes sure she's taken care of first and foremost. He does that anyways, but especially on her period. If they’re going to the Wastes or somewhere where he knows water will be hard to find, he makes sure to bring along a dozen extra canteens, even if that means he has to carry them himself. He also packs extra iron-rich jerky. From his time “in the Wardens,” he also knows how to find water where water is scarce, from tracking to dew-trapping to which plants are edible. He makes sure that if he’s not with her in such difficult places that whomever she’s with will know these things, too. (Usually, either he or Bull is always in her party anyways, but he always makes sure to remind the others. Sera, being the youngest, also really needs to know these things, too, but he comes at it delicately with her, maybe even sending someone else to talk to her.) 

Blackwall and periods. I love it. I love him.

I like Blackwall and all, but it’s hard listening to him talk about “Wardens do this,” or “Wardens do that,” when you know the truth =_= and when he never says a proper thanks when I run all over the world for his shit.
