Who wants to see Elspeth and I’s kids?
You are getting them anyway (picrew creator @ 03diga10 )
First we have my son Charlie. He loves Elsie. She’s his favorite person and the first time he called her ‘Mummy,’ we weren’t even fully together yet. I have to thank him for us actually getting together and married. Elsie always had loved him as if her own son. I think her reading to him has really had an impact because people already compare him to ‘Mr. Darcy.’
Next we have Wiliam. Well, Thomas Wiliam Arthur Shelby.... But we just call him Wiliam. I refuse to call him Thomas or Tom and Elsie refuses to call him Junior... So we call him Wiliam. Sadly, both of our families had a falling out with us when he was born. So she was alone raising Charlie and Wiliam for a good bit. He is a bit of a trickster and is a hothead. He can talk his way in and out of trouble. He definitely needs more of an eye on him than his two siblings.
Lastly, we have Flora Elizabeth Margaret Shelby. She is definitely attached to my hip. I am her favorite person in the world. She is definitely a cool headed, strong presence little girl. She’s already trying to accomplish so much despite being so young. She’s just a tiny baby but she is fierce.
No one asked, but here’s young Elspeth and I. (Under the cut is us now,)
Tonight is my, Tommy, last night of the takeover before someone else takes over in my steed. If any of you have any more questions for me y'all should get them in now or wait until December.
Good evening Thomas! I was wondering if you could tell me some of your favourite things about your dear Elsie? (@toogayforthistoday)
Good Evening! Sure. Favorite things about my Elspeth.
She’s freedom. She has an impulse and does it regardless of the ‘rules’. She doesn’t play by our rules. She can be a spitfire and ruthless about anything that stands in her way. Elspeth can be fierce. I respect her for it. She also is completely willing to uproot everything, as long as we take the children, and just go live on the road.
Despite this and her trauma, she’s still kind. Elsie is always gentle and kind with our families and our children. The way she took over to make sure Charlie was okay after... She was a lifesaver. When I get home from my work, she’s always there to patch me up.
Elsie will protect whomever she deems is her family and her friends. She will do so with her life and has already proven to do so. After she got attacked while trying to protect Charlie, I was so terrified that I was going to lose her too that I married her right after she woke up.
She can light up the entire room when she smiles. It’s so infectious and it has gotten her out of trouble numerous times. It makes me laugh. Elsie is normally has a very friendly face, but when she smiles.... she’s just beautiful and someone everyone wants to know.
Elsie is smart. Incredibly cunning and ambitious. She’s also understanding and encouraging. I never have to worry about having to explain myself to her about my work. She helps me devise my plans and keep me sane. I can always count on her.
She’s like a warm campfire. Something so welcoming and warm, but can be harsh and unrelenting. She’s protective and someone I always want near my side.
I hope this helps a bit. Let me know if you need or want to ask anything else. See you later Gabe! @toogayforthistoday
Hello Thomas! From the OTP things, could I ask 3, 6,10,16,19,25,31,35,40,47, and 50? (@toogayforthistoday)
Ello! Of course, you can Gabe! You are more than welcome. @toogayforthistoday
Who hogs the cover/ Who loves to cuddle?
Elsie hogs the covers. She gets very cold and will bundle herself up before she goes to sleep. If I’m not home in time for her to fall asleep with me, I will find my spare jackets, shirts, waistcoats, and coats bundled around her to feel close to me.
We both love to cuddle, but I actually will be the first one to open up to cuddle. I love having her fall asleep on my chest. She clings to me as she sleeps which is really nice. I love running my fingers through her hair to calm her as she sleeps. It keeps me calm and helps keep the mud of France far from my mind.
Who would have really deep emotional thoughts at the middle of the night/ Who would have them in the middle of the day?
We both have PTSD so we both have those types of thoughts randomly. Mine do tend to be at night while hers during dusk, evening, and afternoon times. We do keep those thoughts away while we are together and it’s easy for us to calm each other down from it.
Who likes sweet/ Who likes sour?
I prefer sweet things, Elsie prefers sour.
Who is scared of thunderstorms?
I don’t mind thunderstorms, but I do need some comfort from them from time to time. Elsie does as well. Our children, well our sons, are the ones who are most afraid of them. Charlie doesn’t even try to act brave. He runs straight to Elsie and curls up with her. Wiliam acts bravely, but will crawl into bed between Elsie and I. Flora actually is very good during thunderstorms. I’m so proud of my little baby girl. I’m pretty sure she actually sleeps better during thunderstorms.
Who loves to call the other one cute names?
I adore calling Elsie by nicknames. Elsie is a nickname itself for Elspeth. If her hair were still the bright copper red, I’d call her my little wildfire, but now it’s a dark auburn... So now I call her my warm embers, sweetheart, darling, or dearest. I also call her my sweet fox. Sometimes when talking while around the children I call her, “mummy” or some form of it. Elsie calls me her love, husband, by my name, ”dad” (or some form of it), or just Tommy.
Who wears the other ones clothes?
Elsie will steal my hat and peacoat all the time. She used to steal my hat before we were together as well before Charlie too. I don’t think I would look good in any of her clothes. Not as much as she looks good in mine.
Who is more affectionate?
Elsie is more “traditionally” affectionate, especially with our children. Though, I would dare say I was more romantic and affectionate before we were married. She was a lot more reserved about actual affection before we were together. Small flirtations she adored sharing, but if I tried to push slightly farther than that, she would be very standoffish until after... after my first wife and her almost marriage. Then she allowed herself to be more affectionate towards me.
Who goes overboard on the holidays?
Guilty as charged here. I’m the one who goes a tad overboard with the holidays... Well, it depends on the holiday really. But for birthdays and Christmas, that is all me. Elsie celebrates Yule and the older pagan holidays. I actually don’t mind it. It’s fun and then gives me all the reason to show our children their gypsy side.
Who is the fun parent/ Who is the responsible parent?
I think it depends on what it is. We are both pretty responsible parents and we both can be really cheeky at times. I think Charlie would call her the “fun” parent and I the “responsible” one. Wiliam would call her the “responsible” parent and I the “fun” parent. Flora as well would call me the “fun” parent and Elsie the “responsible” parent.
Who has the more complex coffee order?
That would be me. Elsie doesn’t drink coffee and prefers tea, water, or chocolate milk. So by default, I would have the more complex coffee order.
Who is the hopeless romantic?
Both of us... Unless you want to include the kids. Then it’s Charlie. But we are both hopeless romantics. If we both weren’t so stubborn and hardheaded, we’d probably have been together much sooner, but then Charlie wouldn’t have been born... So I’m thankful for our stubbornness.
I failed to keep Elsie from starting to read Little Women with Charlie. Well, at least they are having fun, but it's my turn to read... Wish me luck.
Before I head into bed, I wanted to talk about putting the children to bed.
If I get the honor of being home when they are heading to bed, we have the boys get ready for bed, then Elsie and I tuck in Wiliam first. Flora still sleeps in the nursery attached to our bedroom, so we actually put her into bed after tucking in the boys. While we rock Flora, Elsie or I will read with Charlie. I believe Elsie and Charlie are reading Peter Pan and Wendy. I convinced her not to do Little Women yet nor another reread of Pride and Prejudice. But we read to him and tuck him in with Ernest sleeping next to him and Wiliam. Then we go put Flora to bed. Sometimes though, we end up with all the children in bed with us as well as the giant dog. Usually it starts with Charlie, then Wiliam and Ernest trot in, then Flora wants to join. Those nights, we don't get a ton of sleep, but Elsie and I just take a little nap while the tutors and governess takes the kids in the morning after breakfast.
