I chose this one because I thought it fit the October color scheme and the themes of the book can be very chilling, I would recommend this as a fall read. I also chose it because all of the illustrations inside are gorgeous and really enhance the story.

Book Review:
Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by this book. I’ll explain.
What I did like about this book was the infusion of all the King Arthur stories mixed in, and how they were used in new ways. I thought that was really cool. The action was pretty good, and I LOVED the character, Morgan. I thought she was best of the whole book, in my personal opinion. She just didn’t take shit and called out people’s shit.
However, I felt overwhelmed by this book. I grew up with King Arthur and those stories, and I love them myself, so I was really excited to see a “girl version” of King Arthur stories, where it is a girl who finds the sword. But I didn’t love it.
I didn’t like Nimue all that much, and most of the characters. I liked Arthur a bit (and Morgan, as I said above). I thought the world was a little too complicated and hard to keep up with, and once that happens, I start to lose interest rather instantly, if I can’t connect with the world much. I did like the bits I remember, but it wasn’t working with me. And I didn’t love the writing all that much.
That being said, I thought the ending was clever (I won’t spoil it, but fellow King Arthur legends lovers will understand-- I thought that twist and connection was cool). And I do think this book will get more people, especially girls/women, into the King Arthur world. So I appreciate that a lot. We need more stories told about the women in King Arthur! (Yes, I know about Mists of Avalon, which still need to read!)
I am really excited for the Netflix series though, I'll definitely be watching that.
Definitely check out this book! You’ll love King Arthur stories, I bet.
P. S. Please give me more badass women like above.
