Movie: Evil Dead Rise (2023)

The Naturom Demonto, also known as "The Book of the Dead," is an ancient tome bound in human flesh and inked in human blood. Featured in the 2023 film Evil Dead Rise, this specific book is one volume in a series of three. Director Lee Cronin noted behind the scenes that it is meant to be the specific book that bites Ash Williams in Army of Darkness, though legal restrictions prevented an explicit onscreen connection. Because of these legal issues regarding the name "Necronomicon Ex-Mortis," this iteration utilizes the "Naturom Demonto" moniker originally established in the 1981 film The Evil Dead.

The book's known history began in the early 1920s when Catholic missionaries discovered it overseas. By the fall of 1923, it came into the possession of Father Marcus Littleton of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Los Angeles. Against the explicit objections of church elders, Littleton and two fellow priests, Canon Damian Shanhan and Father Hugo Cortez, studied and translated the book's incantations in secret. When Littleton recorded himself reading a spiritual resurrection passage onto a vinyl record, he accidentally unleashed the Kandarian Demon. The entity possessed Cortez and Shanhan, transforming them into Deadites. After fighting and stopping his possessed brethren, Littleton hid the book inside a secret vault decorated with religious iconography and charms underneath a Los Angeles bank.

A century later, the bank had been converted into the Monde Apartments, with the vault sealed beneath a parking garage. Following an earthquake that cracked the garage pavement, a resident teenager named Danny discovered the hidden room and recovered the Naturom Demonto alongside Father Littleton's vinyl records. When Danny played the archival recording in his room, the Kandarian Demon was reawakened, immediately possessing his mother, Ellie. The demonic force tore through the apartment building over the course of the night, leaving only Danny's aunt Beth and his sister Kassie to survive and escape, while the book itself was left behind in the ruins.

had this book for years and its still in great condition, mostly because it keeps fucking vanishing any time i think to actually read about whats in it. popped up again today, taking this so i know i still own it. real interesting stuff on objects like the hope diamond, and places like king tut's tomb.

if i didnt like the read so much i probably would have just gotten rid of it by now, but i get the feeling it'd show back up anyways

Astarion used the book he stole from the basement of the magic shop to read more of the Necromancy of Thay, but it seems that he will need more time to study it.

Once he has some time, he's sure that there is something in there that will be useful for him to use against Cazador
