Constance did unwillingly cause the death of her mentor and the previous Captain of the Serenading Siren.

She did not handle it very well at all, especially with the slew of tragedies that followed with the death of her beloved Jack. His death resulted in her being named Captain, being betrayed by the previous first mate, and getting her thrown into Tol Dagor.

Tol Dagor did become an ugly, cruel blessing in disguise though, as it gave her a lot of time to think about Jack and his teachings. It matured her in a way and became very much a ‘coming of age’ for her as far as becoming a pirating captain goes. It hardened her. It wisened her. It opened up a plethora of other opportunities for her in the future as well.

Constance has more than one reoccurring problem that she faces, but honestly who doesn’t? The Proudmoore Admiralty is certainly a thorn in her side that she attempts to stay away from to the best of her abilities, but luckily they have bigger fish to fry than a pirate ship who did not even side with Ashvane and her coup.

Her most prominent, self-afflicting problem would fall on her dreamy ideals and dependence on luck rather than strategy. A plan? No idea what that is, I’ve never even heard of it, or perhaps she has, but she would never let you know that. If you do not even know what you’re doing, how will your enemy ever be able to know what you’re doing?

The dreamy ideals are more so in the fact that she lives in quite the fantasy realm of her own, wishing and working towards goals that are near unachievable and therefore, come with their own prizes of disappointment and foolishness. It’s often taken advantage of as she has trusted the wrong people and shown kindness where she probably shouldn’t, but somehow manages to keep a softness to her lacking in others of her profession.

Yes, her worst reoccurring problem is her kindness, but really its all a matter of perspective.

It certainly has impacted her backstory and will continue to do so, she’s a character that has shifted through many a plot and idea only to come out stronger and more detailed than I originally planned! I’m sure I’ll write more about it in the future!

Constance has a very strict diet of “I eat whatever our Cook, Essie, and Tobias happen to make that day.” Thankfully, she keeps a variety of good food aboard the ship to snack on and choose from, but not every season is so fortunate. Sometimes they are all lucky to have potatoes and dried meats!

When busy or preoccupied, worried or concerned, she more than likely has to be reminded to eat.

And while she would love to be able to cook as she did those many years ago before she became a Captain, she rarely has the time to and the Siren’s Cook enjoys having something to do.

Her fine brows furrowed in silent contemplation as the mage was forced to ponder many a thought. Eventually, a smile broke through her lips and a soft sigh left her. A hand waved flippantly through the air, “Am I suppose to choose only one of many mistakes I have made in my past? There are so many, how can I choose just one?” She inquired with a defeated look to her visage.

“My father used to tell me that a mistake is only a truly a mistake if one learns nothing from it. In the early days of my practices with magic, I had quite a few spells backfire on me and cause quite a few scars and pains. While they hurt deeply and I have a few complications from them, I learned. . . So I can hardly consider them mistakes.” Her gaze drifted, “If I had to choose a true mistake, I would say. . . I made the mistake of trusting some too easily, growing too attached too quickly, and now I do feel lonely from time to time because of it. . . I am afraid those are lessons I still have yet to truly accept. . . And learn from.”

To Constance Darling, piracy is not about bloodlust and thievery, even if it is a part of her life. It is about freedom from land and the laws of nations, but one doe not have to be heartless to value freedom or to captain a ship of miscreants.

However, honor is a fickle ideal, one shrouded with a thick layer of subjective, narrow-mindedness. Does Constance value honor, yes, her own interpretation of honor means a great amount to her. There is a code, after all, a code for pirates to live by. Though they are really more like guidelines, are they not?

Constance is fair and true to those of the Siren’s crew, for what can they rely on in the end of all things if not one another? Therefore in matters of great importance, every crew member has a vote in affairs of the moment. There is to be no fighting amidst one another aboard the ship, as all affairs are to be dealt with on the shoreline with a pistol in each hand. Should a person attempt to meddle with another without their consent, they shall suffer Death. These are only a few examples, but rest assured Captain Darling holds the code dear to her heart.

So with her own view of honor, yes, she values it greatly.

Constance enjoys toying with the idea of destiny. There are several instances in her life where she can only guess that she has found favor in the eyes of Lady Luck, that is the only way she could be where she is today - and breathing. She is amused by the thoughts of fate and fortune, but even those fleeting fancies diminish at the idea of some Unseen Force toying with her like some sort of child’s doll.

However, it could be nice to become the Pirate Queen of Azeroth’s seas. Will it happen? Probably not, but it’s fun to think about, and it beats facing a mutiny or the hangman’s noose. Frankly, her only goal is to survive the harsh realities of the world. As long as Lady Luck favors her towards said goal, she cannot complain too much...

Companionship means more to the Captain of the Siren than one might think. Her crew means everything to her, and networking outside into the world is how one survives many a battle of wits and luck. Those who make an enemy of everyone they meet hardly make it far in business or in, you know, living. That being said, she prefers to keep a positive relationship with most, enjoying making friends far more than she enjoys making enemies. Though she is not opposed to it if pushed too far, and being her enemy is a grave mistake. She can be quite petty when it comes to certain subjects.

She enjoys her alone time during the nightly hours, but is definitely a social butterfly in most other situations.
