thor: ragnarok: the feeling once the party is over, reunions, troubled history, growing up and growing old, loud music, urgency, bruised knuckles, desperation, tossing glitter and confetti, grief, hiding away, the sound of champagne popping, bubbly personalities.

“Why are we here?” Valkyrie asked. 

They were standing outside a nightclub. Neon lights, loud music pumping, and the smell of cigarettes. They really had it all.

“Report says that we might find it here.” Thor replied, staring at the club. “Why don’t you do some of that sorcery now?“ 

Loki rolled his eyes, "Honestly, your really should have left me in asgard.”

“Stop complaining and get on with it!" 

Loki made a face but then started to cast an illusion. Now the trio were in suitable clothes for a club. 

They walked into the chaos and split up. Thor and Valkyrie sat down on the bar stools and Loki went to stand near the dance floor. 

A man with pointed cheekbones and bleached hair came up to the bar and ordered a drink. There was something different about him, so the trio were focused on him. 

"Well, he’s good looking.” Valkyrie commented. 

The man started walking away with his drink. He disappeared behind the people dancing and then he was gone. 

A young woman had taken his place. 

“Well, she is very good looking.” Valkyrie added. 

Everyone was shocked by what had just happened. Maybe is was just someone else? It couldn’t be. The woman looked very similar to the man, and there was no explanation to where the man had gone. 

Though everyone was surprised, Loki seemed much more shocked.

After he started to process it, Loki ran after her. 

“Wait! Excuse Miss! ” Loki called while running after her. 

By now, Thor and Valkyrie had caught up. The woman was walking outside when Loki caught her arm. 

“How did you do that?” Loki asked, out of breath. 

The woman raised her eyebrow, “What?”

“You just changed form! That’s difficult magic, and you would have to learn from an expert, and those are very rare! I mean I can do that magic, but I don’t know others that can!" 

"I learned.” The woman replied, in a bored tone. 

“By who? I mean, it would be great to know of a teacher!” Loki said. 

“I taught myself." 

No one spoke for a while. 

"But… but that’s impossible. You would… you would need to be extremely powerful! And even then, you wouldn’t be able to achieve that!” Loki said, for once surprised. 

“What’s your name?” Thor asked abruptly.

The woman blinked, “Askr." 

"How long have you been practicing magic? It must have taken years! Oh, and if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? It must have taken a wise mind to learn on your own!” Loki ranted, seeming more starstruck than surprised now. 

“Like, seventeen years? Something like that." 

Loki blinked. "Seventeen years? That’s impossible. Ugh, how old did you say you were?" 

"I didn’t, but I’m twenty-two.” Askr replied. 

“Twenty-two?” Valkyrie exclaimed, doubtfully.

“Well you look like it, but in think Loki meant you’re actual age. For example, I’m fifteen hundred years old, but I don’t look it.” Thor chimes in. 

“I think you look it.” Loki said.

“Hey!" 

"I know what he meant, and I gave him the right answer.” Askr interrupted, rolling her eyes. 

“But how is that possible?! You…you can’t just do that.. when you’re..twenty-two!” Loki exclaimed. 

While Loki was sputtering, Thor noticed something red gleaming in Jamie’s pocket. 

“What’s that in your pocket?” Thor asked.

Askrlooked down, “It’s a family heirloom." 

"That’s the artifact we came to find!” Valkyrie exclaimed. She had a good eye. 

“What are you doing with that?” Thor questioned.

“It was stolen from me. I came to take it back.” Askr started walking away. 

Thor grabbed her arm as Loki had done before.

Askr hissed, “Don’t touch me, Adgardian.” Aksr’s skin turned blue, and her eyes red. 

“You’re from Jotunheim!” Loki said, shocked once again. 

Thor let go. “I thought they all died after Laufey was killed." 

"Almost everyone died, because you left us there to rot!” Askr exclaimed. 

Thor got angered by this, “You can’t blame us for your King’s mistakes." 

"I will blame you for leaving innocent children on the streets to starve, people who had nothing to do with the antics of a horrible King!" Askr stated, very pissed. 

She cursed, "I shouldn’t talk to you." 

Askr started to walk away. 

"Wait!” Loki yelled, running after her. “I know how it feels! I’m one of you!" 

Askr was getting in her car. The others hadn’t followed Loki. 

"You’re the one who murdered Laufey.” Askr said slowly. “You were his son." 

"I’m truly sorry for everything that happened!" 

Askr chuckled, "What, a great way to meet you. I didn’t think I’d meet you at a club, brother." 

Loki paused, "Brother?" 

"Laufey had a few kids. They either died or went on to hate him." 

Loki thought, then he asked, "Can I talk to you more?" 

Askr looked around, and then she sighed. 

"Get in the car.”

Loki waved to Valkyrie and Thor, and then sat down into the passenger seat. Askr started driving, and they talked for hours.
