6 years ago i made a piece in honour of the conclusion of the Chroma Conclave. I was inexplicably compelled to draw it yet again thanks to The Legend of Vox Machina. Time flies. (Also a friend pointed out that you could tell my current cats are utterly chaotic compared to the cat i lived with when i drew the first piece and it’s extremely true)
I was reading recently about the differences The Legend of Vox Machina made to the original Critical Role source material, and came across this. Spoilers for Critical Role campaign 1 Chroma Conclave below.
On the one hand: writing is complicated and I can understand including a plot point without including the lattice-work of setup that underscores it.
On the other hand: when I saw Thordak had spawn it didn't really cross my mind that he couldn't. At the time, I suspected dragons were hermaphroditic and thus Thordak just needed another dragon to mate with, maybe one of his generals.
But re-reading this again, I know the truth:
