27. HERO
Sometimes she worried
that hero was just a word
for a martyr who had not died yet.
So... Those left behind. Any information you can spare? Pretty please?
When I was coming up with the plot for HAT, I had another batch of characters and places that I knew were connected and that inhabited the same world.
The more the events for HAT fell into place, the more clear the plot was for this second story. I knew that some of the side characters that weren't romancable in this one would be ROs in Those Left Behind, as well as some new ROs.
All I can say for now is that:
It will be in the same world as HAT, but will be able to be read on its own.
There will be more magic from the beginning.
Your character will be overwhelmed and possibly under-qualified.
Maybe your character will get with a charming member of the Talons.
30 MINUTES EARLIER:
im asking so hard right now i am asking you
tell tell tell >:DDDDDD
Horray!!!!!!
okay so the title is ‘Those Left Behind’, and it’s an 11 chapter self contained adventure about making peace with your struggles and life.
Our trio of protagonists are Ccino, Epic, and Birdtale Firsk. When I said these characters never would interact otherwise, I meant it lmaooo. They’re all three sent on a wild goose chase across the multiverse by Reaper, who promises to show Ccino and Epic the meaning of life if they succeed. And Frisk (Finch) is kind of collateral but we’ll get to that.
Ccino watched his world die, and is nothing more than another tragic case of a skeleton separated from his AU who will adjust and get over it eventually, but he isn’t doing so hot. That’s code for he had depression before in his au, and now, having lost his family, he really doesn’t get why he managed to survive or see point in keeping himself alive. He’s pretty miserable.
Epic has been living in the OT for a while, but he’s drifting away from his friends and family, who he already had a pretty shaky relationship with, and as of late he’s been harassed about his eye and some scientists offering to figure out how to remove it (rather forcefully) and he’s desperate for some kind of change before he loses control of his own situation.
Reaper finds them individually at some of their lowest points and teams them up on a little fetch quest, offering a solution to their individual problems in return. And then Finch, who lives happily in their AU, gets involved on accident and their arc is still a little in the air, but it’s fun.
it’s a little heavier than the stuff I usually write, but it has a happy, satisfying ending and I like to think the character’s dynamics are interesting because I mean. Ccino isn’t normally involved with the multiverse (?) and even then is usually a passive, chill side character, not a protagonist with an arc. Epic is a jokey meme character who doesn’t usually get development. And I honest to god just wanted to write a teenage frisk going through the woes of being a non binary teenager and the comic relief :3
I’ve been writing it for about a week, and it’s development history up to this point was kind of amusing tbh. Thank you for asking. Hopefully it’s not too out there. I care a lot about it lol. It will be finished sometime before March I can promise that much. Progress has been rapid.
I finally got around to spending a day creating new graphics for my book promotion effort.Having done new book cover art last year, it was annoying that the other artwork didn’t feature the new covers. Now I’m working on making everything consistent.
