WITH THAT I BELIEVE S3 WAS TRULY DONE DIRTY :((( hooray for S4 getting a fun story I am actually happy with how it turned out despite the changes to the books but it still a shame this energy was not matched in the previous season... i guess all my favorite books of this series are going to disappoint me
Season 2 Finale of Eavesdropping coming out this Halloween so I thought it would be good to make a little blurb of my thoughts on it so far. (Without spoilers)
For context, its a short-form series produced by Nicolas Alayo, Kaleigh Howland and Christian Sullivan on Instagram about two former high school friends that meet again on a random LA curb many years after graduating.
As short-form content, it could easily be mistaken for an odd screen recording of an existing show (my first impression of it) with its professional-looking production. WAY better than the short-drama reels that were most likely written with AI and shot on a limited budget. "A breath of fresh of air" — may be what the critics would say. Like we've come a long way from that one hospital tiktok series.
For most of the series, so far, it revolves around conversations about dating, relationships, and everything in-between as they go about their lives. It feels intimate yet mundane and ordinary — not in a boring way but like how you may converse with a friend or partner while you're doing errands. If you read Normal People, it has a similar vibe, I would say.
I thoroughly enjoyed the development of each character and the decisions as twists along the way. Grateful to the algorithm for this gem. Here's one of the first reels I saw of it, if you'd like to see for yourself (x)
Also, if anyone has recommendations for other Instagram shows to check out, I would appreciate it!
Edited to include co-producers for the show: Kaleigh Howland and Christian Sullivan
I just realized this but to anyone who has seen Nobody Wants This, Sasha x Esther kinda give Regina x Rodrick right?
Like at the base level, they're girlies who know what they want and get what they want. They can be mean and cold and condescending but they're cool. Meanwhile the boys would just be happy to support them. Kind of goofballs with their special interests.
I was initially going to use Sasha x Morgan but that was only because of Morgan straight up just calls him loser as a greeting but she doesn't actually be cold or mean to Sasha specifically. I'd say Sasha & Morgan could parallel Regina & Rodrick after the events in the mean girls movie when Regina gets her character development. Like she's a better human being but still kinda shallow & treats Rodrick like an equal / partner / friend in their day to day.
